Throw bodies at the objective until you win or your opponent gets bored killing 5pt models with Eradicators and Sanguinary guard and quits in frustration crying about cheese! On the serious note...These ARE Catachan, hence, unbeatable in Hand to hand combat. Some surprises here. Vanilla commanders have power swords with up to 5 attacks at STR 5. Harker is a cheap assist on overloading plasma.

Just push the center objectives and grab point. Play the objective game and throw away cheap Imperial lives for the Emperor for that all important win. Inexhaustable armies and all that.

Obvious candidate here for dipping! Contrast paint. Competitive? Yes or no?

I love it.

Not sure if HWT add more than extra 20 bodies in conscript squad.

I'm doing similar with wilderness survivor/disciplined shooter as reg. trait.

Went for3x conscript and 9 infantry in troop slots.

Vets/Command can come on from reserve with harker - improving survivability. Re-roll one especially important as it means not using orders to get that - freeing them up for use elsewhere. This also reduces bodies to deploy which is surprisingly tight in some deployment lay outs with that many folk!

I dumped Vox. - maybe consider popping HBolter in vets - would further enhance use of the re-roll 1 bubble. Or for same points replace with plasma pistol for serg (making 3 plasma shots at<12" per squad

No advice on painting beyond good luck and stay strong

I have come to same conclusion that 2 battalion better than the brigade. Eitle slots tight I have found.

Real question is to think about what you are going to score - and conversely give up on secondaries - working that out is key for army

I don't think I would have the discipline to not drop a couple of squads - and Sly Marbo, his fluff may be great but ruleswise he honestly costs way too much and does way too little for his points - and bring 2 Manticores with Full Payload. Dropping 4 infantry squads should buy you 2 Manties. I would also ditch the Heavy Bolters since you're going to be on the move with your infantry squads in most turn anyways.This should free up enough points to get a Master of Ordonance. Also consider trying to squeeze in a psyker somewhere - either an Astro for Psychic Barrier or the Blackstone Fortress one for +1 to hit.

Be advised that your opponent can and will max out the Assassinate secondary.

BALANCE isn't something a pure gaurdhorde is known for! I would say you need desperately to spread out your few flamers so as to use "burn them out" or a few astropaths (which also can turn your 30 conscripts into a nigh unkillable blob).

I confess my complaint about the flamers is, that's the only source of deny cover in your army -- and its got 6 wounds at t3 which save on 5+. If I were your opponent it would be my first priority target, dead, done, and your firing efficiency would drop by between 1/4 and 1/2 as a result. My own style, I would give that six man squad some 1/2 price plasma, and move the three flamers into your 3 veterans squads. Now oyu have 30 wounds protecting the ability to strip cover, and its not all in one place, AND, you have saved 15 points, enough to give 3 catachans powerswords. One of those can be the blade of conquest, some catachan character's hands, to give someone 4 s6/-4/d3 attacks, suddenly nearly equal to a marine fighter (and actually better than some). Give the other two out to squads at random -- remember to join squads so they start to grow as a target, and you will end up with a blob of 20 or 30 gaurd protecting the vital 4 (with priest six) swings of powersword each round. A steady headache for a melee enemy.

With any luck the enemy may focus his thoguhts on your "unkillable 30 conscript" blob and on things like the gaurds with plasma swords, and not notice the flamers, till you suddenly start doubling the firepower of your lasguns against marines in cover, (or even increasing it by a healthy 33 percent against gaurd in cover, too.)
