Anyone ever do this calculation? It would probably change a bit from month to month depending on releases.

But what would be monthly cost be (at MSRP) if the ultimate GW fanboy were to purchase one of each item Games Workshop released every month?

It would of course vary, but TODAY'S prereleases total £640. Do that 12 times gets you £7680 a year.

Wouldn't that be times 52? Gw releases weekly stuff

Dakka says I gotta have a capital letter in my post, so I'll try again: 7680 quids a year is surprisingly low for something as mad as this.

They do indeed release weekly, but I *believe* that releases stay in "preorder" for longer than that - several current "preorder" are in stock, but all are brand new or very recent, where "new releases" starts with mortarion, who I would no longer class as such.

If you're going to have a guess, gotta start somewhere....

I checked preorders and lots of stuff preorderable during month missing.no blood angels, no christmast bundles etc.

Shrugs.

A guy asked a question. I scribbled on the back of an envelope as a start point. You want to do it properly? Go for it.

I appreciate the feedback. Obviously this isn't exactly something that can't be figured out by simply going to the website and adding everything up. I thought someone might have done it already.

So about £8,000 a year equals roughly $10,600 or just under $890 a month.

Cheaper than free to play video games at least.

Not sure if video games are a good example to compare to.. But.. Of course if you need to buy every game then sure thats going to be more expensive.. But that's not games being expensive that's you as a person(not you personally) not being bale to control their spending...
I have a friend who buys every new game. All limited edition tacky Chinese manufacturing figurines... The whole shebang.. Obviously he always complains he has no money to go for a drink down the pub or see a movie etc..

He recently did a round up of all of his games. He has over 400 games he has bought that he hasn't even played yet. Yet he keeps buying the newest games.
There just simply aint enough hours in the day to either utilise all of the GW content or all gaming content if you are an adult with some sort of job (even if your job involves miniature painting).

At some point you just have to accept there are limitations and not get bogged down by some misguided "completionism OCD".. Life is a lot easier and less stressfull that way IMO.
There is a reason its called a pile of shame. and we all got it..
