Oh thank God, 2020 is finally done!

So, that was a long 365 days..... Yeah yeah, I know today looks very much like yesterday did. Nothing magically changed at midnight.
But on the assumption 2021 will get better, what's your 40k goals for this year?

Mine:
*Get a lot of Necrons (fully) painted up. Especially the stuff I'm using in our Crusade game
*Get a Primaris army built & painted up. I need a color scheme. Any ideas? {CANNOT be UM or SW}
*Play more games than I did in 2020.

For me its getting the new Necrons going at the competitive level making the tournament ready.
As I have a Necron army with which I played tourneys in the 6. and 7. edition, I just concentrate on the new competitive models and units.

My Sons Nids are coming along so Ill have a fairly regular opponent as we learn/relearn 40K.

Ill probably start a smaller - Elite - Army for a bit of a change from my Wolves.

I spent 2020 sorting my various marine Armies in to actual companies so 2021 is to repaint them as a single chapter force.

Painting wise:
A) Finish my Dark Vengeance set, plus a couple extra Scouts and Assault Marines for the Marine half and some extra cultists, possessed and raptors for the Chaos half. This was the project my 40K "stalled" on in 2012, and I really want to get it done!
B) Paint my Tau Start Collecting plus extras for a small Tau force. I want to do a Turquoise scheme for them.
C) Strip my old 2e Guard metals and paint up my Steel Legion, old Cadians and old Catachans as an Imperial Guard force, with Mantic armoured trucks for Taurox stand ins and Necromunda Slave Ogryns as Bullgryn and Ogryn stand ins. Very excited at this project!

I have other stuff I would like to do but trying to be somewhat realistic here! I would also like do do some Tyranids and Dark Eldar, but I know that is just my enthusiasm and backlog talking...

Gaming:
A) Play some games! I don't really mind what, but I haven't played a game in nearly a friggin decade so I really want to!
B) Do some narrative battles

Scenery:
A) Dual purpose rocky crags and fungal forests for ash wastes terrain.
B) Sci fi ruins that I am gonna magnetise at the corners so they flat pack. Excited about this project.
C) Maybe try my hand at some of the Ork terrain I saw on Midwinter Minis, looked pretty versitile and easy and would be usable in post apocalyptic settings generally.

I will also be working on a roleplaying game using Stars Without Number set in my "Rogue Trader-esque" version of the 40K universe. I want to make it in Roll20 but also to have minis for it in case I ever run it in person. Dunno when I will be playing this but it is always in the back of my mind. I really want to have a Sci Fi sandbox setting to go alongside my Fantasy sandbox.

Paint a Dark Angels army. I have a good amount cleaned and assembled. I currently only have a Craftworld army and 9th edition is shaping up to be quite more of a departure from 8th than I thought. I'd like to use an army that is designed for 9th edition.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

Well, it was a leap year, so that's why it felt long.

Hobby goals for myself-
Iron Warriors project, assuming I can make myself commit to it. With a khorne daemon contingent, since I actually want to use those models.
On the plus side, I've got a lot assembled, primed and ready to go. Will probably need a few more things, but want to get well into getting things painted before buying more.

I'd also like to settle on a fantasy project, but can't settle on anything. Some of the glimpses of upcoming models from the New Years video look interesting.

Warcry ruins need to be done.

Efficiency is the highest virtue.

Hobby goals:

a. Get my Necrons to 2000 points with some options (almost there)
b. Get my Scions to 2000 points
c. Paint up some new Van Saar as Inquisitorial Acolytes
d. Finish my Epic stuff that I found during the first lockdown

Gaming goals:

a. Play three Matched Play games a month (pending the lifting of our recent lockdown)
b. Continue the Crusade I just started with my son (his Flesh Tearers vs my Necrons) - perhaps throw in a map-based portion

All you have to do is fire three rounds a minute, and stand

Painting(I am splitting my effort between 40K and old WFB projects):

Crimson Fists - Finish off this particular element that I am working on.
Orks - Assemble some Opposing Force for the above Crimson Fists. I would like to get some of these also painted before year out.
Cadian's - it would be nice to get a platoon or two assembled and primed. No expectation on getting them painted.

Gaming:

Primary Goal: This one is an easier goal. Get a few games in of the 9th to test it out and see what I think.

Secondary Goal: Regardless of what I think about the 9th. I would like to get a game or two of the older editions that I liked to play. This assumes that I can find willing opponents.

Hobby Goals:

I want to completely finish painting by Black Legion. I have completely converted over to the new sculpts and down to a handful of kits that I could possibly want to add to that army. Provided CSM don't get anything big in 2021, I could easily accomplish this well before I can start gaming.

Finish up a bunch of my Kill Team factions. I still have a number of models I haven't finished that I bought for Kill Team. Most are the ones I really didn't have a plan to field not needing a full model kit, but I have them and would like to get done as well to fill out their little part of the hobby shelf.

I would also like to complete painting my Primaris army. Easy enough. Heck, assuming space marines get no more than what has already been revealed I could have the whole army painted easy.

Get the majority of my Genestealer Cult army completely painted at least the stuff I plan on fielding the most. I probably will get the whole thing done this year, but I don't want to be pressured into it.

I kinda want to finish building the Crisis Suits from the Tau Start Collecting box with GW first introduced the idea. I actually finished building the suits themselves. I just never finished cleaning and building all the weapon options. I plan to magnetize the weapons which has been what allowed this project to drag on for years. Not even them being useable in Kill Team has moved the project forward. But enough is enough.

Gaming Goals:

I want to field my Black Legion army while including Haarken Worldclaimer. Then 80 or so days later I want to field Abbadon the Despoiler. I actually have never fielded Abbadon ever, despite my Black Legion being my first 40k army.

I also would like more of a even split between playing Kill Team, 40k and Age of Sigmar when I can get back to gaming in 2021.

Paint all of the Indomitus Marines(gave up on them after GW took all the fun out of playing them)

Aeronautica; same as above.

Gaming related I just really want to get more games in.

Gaming is out of my control pretty much. I'll play when I'm able.

In terms of painting, I want to get my next Marine army done by April or May or so. It's only 50~ish models, so that's very doable for me. No idea what I'll do after that.

Gotta wait just a bit more for my arms to recover. Once that's done, I'll continue painting my 30k Ultramarines until I have enough for some games.

At some point this year, I want to run them in a Crusade. Basically, they'll have been transported from the Heresy to the 42nd millennium and, through the course of the campaign, be forming their own Primaris Chapter. While I have some Primaris models set aside for them, I'm hoping to collect and paint up new units for their Crusade based on what each squad accomplishes throughout the various battles (ex: Tac squad makes x number of saves in a single game, they get "upgraded" to Heavy Intercessors, or if an Assault Marine squad gets x number of pistol kills, they get "upgraded" to Inceptors, etc.) By the end, I hope to have a decent Primaris army.

1) Finish the BA that I started with the Indomitus box, but the work is advancing at great pace, I am already over 2k painted (with some details and edge highlights to go).

2) Paint the Warbringer Nemesis and the knight battle force for my Legio Gryphonnicus.

3) Paint the rank-and-file units of my GSC collection, I've been pushing it behind other factions (and games) for two years now. The vehicles also need details and weathering, they are in a rough shaded basecoat state.

4) Try to keep the salt about the lack of new Nid models to a minimum. I expect to fail this horribly.

5) Find some time to do the Dimachareon after I managed to paint all of the remaining monsters in 2020. Also right at this moment I am finishing a second squad of 9 Leviathan warriors, so that's a good start of 2021 as well.

The next iteration of my AdMech will have to wait until 2022, I still have some Infinity models to do...

Hobby goals:

Finish painting my Custodes to finally have a fully painted 2k army.

Finish the terrain on the gaming table I've built for my gaming group.

Not a lot on my list, but considering the time it takes me to finish a model it's still ambitious.

Well in a somewhat ironic twist, I decided to get the few models I still wanted for my Deathguard to hold me over.

For 2021 ? I have a couple goals, some last touches on my Dark Eldar. Settle my Sisters into being set up and get the hopefully last box I'll need for my Deathwatch and pray that GW doesn't keep trying to invalidate my kill team set ups book after book.

Then ? Maybe actually be able to learn how to play 9th. Though going in as a relative noob will be kinda fun, has been a long time since I had that feeling.

For 2021? I'd say actually have more finished fully painted models done than I purchase. I can build at a reasonable clip, but once it gets to painting I get overly slow and anal about every little thing for what is essentially a tabletop standard. If I can get 5 infantry models, or maybe 1 vehicle, painted up per month this year, I'll be more than happy.

Considering everything is going to be locked up here at best till summer and at worse till early winter or autum next year, I don't really have plans for w40k. Plus it is hard to make any plans for 9th ed, without knowing what the 9th ed rules for my army are going to be.

If you have to kill, then kill in the best manner. If you slaughter, then slaughter in the best manner. Let one of you sharpen his knife so his animal feels no pain.

My first goal is to sell all the models that I put on ebay or other markets. It's a bunch of models that I bought ages ago, mostly fantasy, with no chance of me having the desire of playing them or either painting them.

Second goal is to magnetize all my models and the boxes to store and transport them. That would be a significant amount of work since we're talking about 500 infantries, 50ish vehicles and 10-12 cases. But I won't definitely buy anything new for ages (I already have more models that I actually need, tons of unpainted stuff, and space problems) so most of the hobby budget of 2021 will probably go there.

It'd be a big investment of money and time but it's also something that I feel is my number one priority for the hobby, more than finishing to paint the armies, and it has been since a long time.

Third goal is very optional. I still have lots of sheets and tubes in plasticard and I may scratch build a few other vehicles for my orks.
