I've seen quite a few threads about stripping models, most recommend LA Awesome or Biostrip20 etc. but neither of these are available in Australia and a lot of the threads are years old.
Is there anything cheap you have found to strip models here recently?

In the uk, we can get paint stripper from B&Q home hardware stores and it appears to be biostrip by another name. i have watched youtube reviews of biostrip and compared it to the 3rd party stuff I have used and im sure its the same stuff, Maybe you can find an alternative?
This is the stuff in the uk https://www.diy.com/departments/paint-varnish-remover-0-5l/262263_BQ.prd

This stuff is also exactly the same https://www.bmstores.co.uk/products/bartoline-tx10-paint-and-varnish-stripper-500ml-309252

Both brands have worked well on plastic and metal with no damage caused. I haven't tried it on resin.

Interesting suggestions. I went past the hardware store today and saw something which seems very similar to the Bartoline you listed. I think they even use the same damn picture LOL

Under the couch

I used Simple Green for years, when I could find the undiluted version at Bunnings.

These days, I'm using Isopropyl alcohol, since I have it on hand for the 3D printer anyway.

To the OP:

What kind of paint are you trying to strip (acrylic can be stripped with isopropyl alcohol, enamels will often need something more aggressive).

What are the models made from?
This changes what you may be able to use to do the job.

Metal models caked in paint? Enamel or acrylic doesn't matter here. Remove base or any plastic bits and soak in acetone (Diggers, from bunnings. Cheap). Scrub with old toothbrush.

Plastic models caked in acrylic paint?
Soak in isopropyl alcohol or methylated spirits. Give a scrub with an old toothbrush.

(You'll see people mention "Dettol" here. Dettol is mostly isopropyl alcohol anyway. It has to be used straight from the bottle.
[Do NOT dilute dettol with water for paint stripping. It has funky interactions with acrylic paints if you do (turns it to a sticky goo that you will never get out of anything and is a pain to wash off. ]
Wear gloves because undiluted dettol WILL take your skin off.) but wear gloves and eye protection because you don't want ANY paint stripping solvent in your eyes.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

I hated detail, it did the job for sure but the house stank of the stuff for a week and my wife wasn’t happy.

Have you looked at green stuff world paint remover. Also didn’t like the smell personally but it does a good job.

I use bio strip, can you pay for international postage to get it delivered?

I'm in New Zealand, and I can get Simple Green from local hardware shops, as well as Dettol (the brown disinfectant stuff) and Isopropyl Alcohol. Iso is the best.

Especially since the whole Covid thing, Isopropyl has become much cheaper and more available. Wear gloves, soak metal and platic as long as you want and resins for only a few minutes.
Dettol and Simple Green I find need much longer soaking, and don't ever dilute the Dettol or it makes an unremoveable gloop from the paint.
