I want to run an idea by y'all. So I've got a custom Space Marine chapter that are loyalist successors of the Luna Wolves/Sons of Horus. They are a number of loyalist Sons of Horus who survived Istvaan and got lost in the warp for thousands of years, popped up in an unexplored region of the galaxy, found a nice planet, and decided to settle down for a few more thousand years. Then the Imperium found them and the Praetors of the Void (their chapter name) did not tell the Imperium who they were. However, the Dark Angels heard that the Praetors of the Void were calling themselves the "Unforgiven" (because they are ex-Sons of Horus and believe they have yet to be forgiven for the sins of their legion) The Rock then pops up near the Praetors homeworld and invites Chapter Master Voltarius of the Praetors to a conference with Supreme Grand Master Zakaron of the Dark Angels. Zakaron asks Voltarius why he is called the Unforgiven, Voltarius shuts up and refuses to say anything. Zakaron says that the Dark Angels also call themselves the Unforgiven and asks if perhaps the Praetors of the Void are Dark Angels successors? Voltarius says "maybe, I'd have to know if we're talking about the same crime though," Zakaron tells Voltarius enough, but not everything, but enough. Voltarius smiles and says "no, that's not us" and then tells Zakaron who the Praetors of the Void are. Zakaron looks like he's about to try and kill Voltarius when Voltarius tells Zakaron that he has been broadcasting the entire conversation to the rest of the Praetors command staff and if the Dark Angels attack Voltarius or the Praetors in any way, Voltarius has no doubt that the Praetors will broadcast a message about the Dark Angels secret to the rest of the galaxy. Zakaron cools down and they part ways begrudgingly. Voltarius tells Zakaron that he has no intention of ever telling the Imperium the Dark Angels secret but if the Dark Angels tattle on the Praetors then the Praetors will tattle on the Dark Angels. Mutually assured blackmail.

So thoughts? Would this make sense at all or not?

It's an interesting concept, are you intending to write a story about it or just some background fluff for your army?

As for it making sense, I think that Zakaron would be very cautious to admit the Dark Angels past to anyone. Aren't the Deathwing suppose to be the only ones that know that secret? Don't they have to be vetted extensively?

I'm going with something the Dark Angels would simply *never* risk telling anyone. *NEVER*. That they're also "Unforgiven" would likely never see the light of day.

I expect the "Unforgiven" is an internal reference, never uttered outside of the inner circle. Because when you call yourself unforgiven, people ask, "What are you not forgiven for?" at which point they wind up being interrogated for knowing too much, and the word "Unforgiven" never leaves the room.

It's a big galaxy, and warp-timey-whimey goes a long way, but why would the DA's Supreme Grand Master volunteer this information to a stranger? They don't even trust the battle brothers with that information.

Yeah, I've been working on a larger story for them but I don't think I'll have the whole "Unforgiven" thing in there.

That makes sense. Thanks for the help.

No Problem!

There's no harm in referring to your dudes as the Unforgiven. And we're all free to make our own stories... there's no harm in a what-if scenario.

It just probably won't survive contact with the outside world.
