The art style replicating the comics of the 40s and 50s is pretty cool. They did this before with Justice League New Frontier more than a decade ago but the affect was that the animation seemed cheap rather than a cool homage.

Sudden accents, WW! Did they actually get Gadot for the voice acting, or did they just tell the VA to imitate her? (Honestly can't tell- I saw the first one once more than a year ago now).

Is 'Black Canary' a hereditary power set, or is there just one that ages slowly? My DC lore is spotty.

Efficiency is the highest virtue.

You would've thought the Flash would've learnt to stop mucking about with time travel by now.

Still got to get used to this new art-style they're using, but I'm looking forward to it (and the new Batman one I should be getting on Monday).

I’m guessing it’s him coming back from the bad future. The previous DCACU started with him causing Flashpoint, and a dozen or so movies later everything had gotten SO bad that Batman was like, dude, you need to go back and reset this, and it ends with Flash running into the past.

Hadn't thought of that, would be a neat way to tie the two continuity's together.

In some continuities there's 2 Black Canaries, mother and daughter. Dinah Drake who works with the Justice Society, then Dinah Lance, who works with the Justice League (and is in love with Green Arrow, is a pop singer, etc).

Though I do suppose that with 'time marches on' they might need to add in another generation or two there to make it make sense nowadays.

On Wonder Woman's accent, I'm wondering if they might end up making the Wonder Woman in that movie Hippolyta, as opposed to Diana, as a streamlined version of the the New Earth setting.

Not a fan of Wonder Woman's accent, I mean yes she's Greek (ish) but she's also a magical princess out of mythology so perfect English seems sort of a given. But whatever.

Happy to see actual Nazis, not Hydra, not Vandal Savage, nope Nazis. Let's all recall that Nazis are bad people, we had a whole war over this.

I mean... its WW2? Not like they can fight on the other side of the world against the Japanese or something which you don't see much of. You coming off as a "Hello fellow children" vibe.

I've seen a couple of times where Nazi Germany was swapped for something fictional (Captain America swapping them for Hydra comes to mind) so I was kind of impressed to see SS symbols and a swastika.

DC doesn't tend to shy away from that. - Crisis on Earth-X comes to mind, and it's sorta-slightly-related animated movie, Freedom Fighters.

I think it was the DCAU (the old one) Justice League that had them fighting Vandal Savage in WWII.

I think "WW2 (including the Holocaust and all its other atrocities) and super heroes in the same reality" presents the same problem as "North Korea/Somalian war lords/Taliban/insert other horrible regime or group of people here and super heroes in the same reality".
Namely, how can this even take place without super heroes doing something about it? Why doesn't Superman - or Wonder Woman or whoever - do a quick trip to Berlin and Kyoto to end it then and there? It's not as if the Nazis can do anything to stop them - by the looks of the trailer, the fights seem to consist of them beating up scores of German troops with little effort.

How this is usually solved is by either deploying more mundane super heroes, like Captain America - he's tough, but not quasi-invincible demigod tough - or giving the Nazi some super villains or other cartoonish super weapon nonsense of their own(The trailer seems to hint at this with some sort of tentacled monstrosity in New York), but it still doesn't solve the narrative problem of the super heroes knowing exactly where to strike and having the mobility to do so.

i vaguely recall one of the older dc animated covering that, where it was a pact or a set of checks and balances that kept the supers out of that stuff for whatever reason they listed in the movie
I think it had wonder woman going to into jungle combat zones regardless and then talking to another member of the league or something later on

Not sure about current comics continuity, but I think it used to be the case in DC that Hitler had acquired the Spear of Destiny, and that let him influence or control metahumans, so they couldn't be involved in Europe.

Watched it. Really enjoyed it. Story did not go where I was expecting it too. I’m really glad this iteration of the DCAMU is not utilizing the excessive gore of the previous. There’s still a level of violence, and people still die, but we don’t have to watch brains and entrails exploding across the screen repeatedly. Fight choreography is really well done. It was cute to watch the two Flashes learning new tricks they can do with their powers from each other. I also liked Steve’s couple of reactions to Barry’s future slang. The bit that had me yelling at the heroes was
Spoiler:
not realizing the one dude was mind controlling Aquaman. Like he even mind controls Wonder Woman briefly, but she apparently didn’t realize it? But it’s just like Stop punching the guy being mind controlled and punch the guy doing the controlling! I’ll be curious how they continue that. They conspicuously left him un-dealt with, but it’s an alternative earth so are we going to get more stories set there or more cross crossing the multiverse?

But yeah, if you like super hero stuff then watch this. Really hits it out of the park imho.
