As the melee weapon options replace the boltgun, the plague knife remains and therefore flail marines have 6 attacks, correct? Axes and cleavers get 3 attacks?

If you are talking about Plague Marines that you trade out the boltgun for a Flail of corruption, the flail rules say to make D3 attacks per attack. Plague Marines have 1 attack on their dataslate, so they get 1 attack (Which is D3 if you use the flail).

The Plague Marines need to have either:

Two plague knives

A plague knife and a bubotic axe

or

A mace of contagion and a bubotic axe

If they have any of those combos they get an attacks characteristic of 2 from the Vectors of Death and Disease rule.

A flail is not in any of those combos, so they are stuck with the 1 attack on their Dataslate.

Um... You do know that Death Guard have a new book, right? Your post is kinda out of date... I guess that might be true for those Plague Marines taken from Codex: Chaos Space Marines, but from context I'm guessing this post is about the updated Death Guard version of the datasheet.

OP: You are correct. A Plague Marine has 2 attacks base and goes to 3 if they have two melee plague weapons (including the plague knife / plague flail combo). Each attack made with the flail rolls 2 Hit dice, so they're effectively making 6 attacks each.
