Hi dakkanauts,

If you are not satisfied with your lighting setup for your painting desk I can recommend you to check out my kickstarter.
The first few backers will get it faster and cheaper since i have a few extras from the prototype stage. So if you are interested make sure to back it and you will get a pretty decent lamp for your workspace!

Will be up in a week or so!

Example how a miniature looks in the light, no editing, Photo with old iphone 7, so you can use it instead of a photobooth too.
Most important part for painting, no more freaking annoying shadows and light glare!!

have you managed to find a way of getting these to the UK without us being hammered by import taxes?

Check out my gallery here
Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

I believe there is not much i can do. The kickstarter is much too small scale for using a distribution center. I am going to look it up again however to see what the best options are.
Maybe it could be worth to subsidize the shipping as much as possible, i will see what i can do. Thanks for your interest though!

Looks interesting. Will it come only in white, or in different colors?

Yeah to keep it simple for the kickstarter only one color. Its abit off white with a semi gloss surface.
Cool man, im from Stockholm, should be an easy delivery if you end up wanting one
Appreciate your comment!

I'm somewhat interested too, depending on the cost. Nice to see a kickstarter shipping from close to home for once

Do you have a rough estimate of the price yet?

What's the Kv on this thing?

It would also be good for miniature photography if it has the right values.

@Zywus Another swede spotted!

Yeah i do, and it wont be that cheap im afraid.
And to be completely transparent here is the reasoning:
Its big, covers the whole table so its a significant amount of raw materials, aluminium, plastic, steel, cables, LEDs, transformer and so on.
And im just one person, doing a small kickstarter run for a very niche product so i cant compete with IKEA on price
However im doing my best to keep it as low as i possibly can assembling everything by myself and so on. On the kickstarter page coming next week there will be more info/pictures/video and then you can judge if you think its worth it a bit better.
Actual answer to your question: a bit over 200 euro.
Nice to see that there is some interest!

@TalonZahn
Is Kv = kelvin?
In that case i cant remember the exact value right now. But its white light, the pictures above is what you gonna get.
Yeah its pretty good for photography aswell. The best part, you will get in the photo exactly what you see when you paint, no nasty surprises! If you wanna use it for photography i recommend to raise the model on some pedestal or something similar as the center point where you get the least amount of shadow on the model is is the middle where you would hold it while you were painting.

How easy would it be to replace the LEDs when they go out (which I know is like 10 years)? At 200 Euros that would be something I'd want to be able to do.

Yeah it could be possible. Unscrew some screws, open up the lid with a small screwdriver.
Pull away the transparent cover, detach and attach new LEDs, resolder and so on. Its 4 rows of LEDs to get it the right brightness. Need to be done in the right order though.
At your own risk of course

Yea, Kelvin.

I'm definitely interested and will watch!

As for replacement stuff, that could also be a big factor if it's easy enough, like strips of LED's that slide in/out

Thanks man, love hearing your feedback.
That would be quite cool if you could slide them like that as you said. At the moment you would have to remove them and then scrape away some left over glue. I will double check every one to make sure there are no broken diode and they are also inset in the aluminium bows and covered in a rigid transparent cover. So from hits and such while you hobbying it should be fine!

I suck a soldering but I don't mind doing it. Sounds pretty normal. I just was curious if there was some part that would be hard to get or had a change to break when disassembling but appears neither of those are the case.

I see. That's probably a bit outside of my price range I'm afraid.
But I wish you all the best with the campaign.

I’m afraid I’m in the same camp as Zywus. I love the idea and would be interested, but that price point is probably just too high to be viable for me.

But good luck with the campaign. That’s a great-looking lighting system and I hope you get enough backers to produce it.

Zywus I understand! I predict quite a lot will back out because of that. Thanks for your comment/feedbackl/wishes

cygnnus Thanks man! If there are any left over lamps from the production run there is a chance I could sell them on a website later on, where you could pick one up if you had a change of mind. No promises though!
