Lady Jaye, the undercover operative in Hasbro’s G.I. Joe universe, is getting the small screen treatment.

Deadline understands that a live-action TV series about the character, who was portrayed by Adrianne Palicki in the 2013 feature film G.I. Joe: Retaliation, is in the works at Amazon.

Erik Oleson, the showrunner and executive producer of the upcoming second season of Amazon’s Legendary-produced Carnival Row, will create and showrun the series and will exec produce alongside Lorenzo DiBonaventura.

It comes from Paramount Television Studios, eOne and Skydance Television.

The series will be a standalone story centered around Jaye, which will also connect to the larger G.I. Joe universe.

Jaye first appeared in the 1984 animated series and was later turned into an action figure and written into the comics.

Oleson’s past credits include head writer and exec producer on Amazon’s The Man in the High Castle as well showrunner and executive producer on the third season of Netflix’s Daredevil. He currently has an overall deal with Amazon Studios and is represented by WME, as well as Jamie Mandelbaum of Jackoway Austen Tyerman Wertheimer Mandelbaum Morris Bernstein Trattner & Klein

lol that was my first thought.

But Scarlet! Then we can get Scarlet + Snake Eyes! The best character in G.I. Joe!

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

I don't know about this. I like the character....but I just prefer my GI Joe action to be more of a team story. I feel that the whole team meme just fits the genre better.

Agreed. G.I. Joe is about misfit specialists working together. Honestly, it sounds like the perfect set-up for a TV show all ready!

Think of shows like Buffy, Supernatural, Alias, Firefly, A-team, etc.

So hopefully we'll get a show about the Baroness.

Pretty sure that fan fiction exists already.

And is also an odd Venture Brothers arc.

I wish that years ago they had gone with an Avengers style mindset for G.I. Joe. The team was comprised of unique individuals from different backgrounds who were recruited to fight a hidden enemy.

Instead of trying to start things out with a big budget action extravaganza they could have done a series of more modestly budgeted action films in different genres that build up the characters and the background threat of Cobra. Before the reveal of Cobra's master plan that requires these individuals to be brought together to save the day.

Maybe one movie could be about a southern cooking convention that Roadblock, Barbeque and Gung-Ho could all coincidentally be at, but they become embroiled in a plot by some secret organization to utilize the franchise model of fast food companies to covertly spread dangerous pathogens via their locations.

Covergirl could be undercover on a remote movie shoot where Quick Kick is a stuntman and Tripwire is in charge of special effects pyrotechnics. They could uncover a secret mining operation by some shadowy organization that is oppressing a village while they try to extract some exotic material.

etc.

Cobra is the shadowy organization and in each movie one official representative from the GI Joe could make contact with the group and then in the big movie bring all them in to use their combined experience to take down Cobra's big plan.

Damn BBB,

If each episode of the first half a season of a GI Joe TV show did that, it could work really well too. Then the second half could be dealing with Cobra proper.

Sure. Episodic content with an overarching storyline. Give things room to breath and introduce a few characters at a time. In the cartoon episodes would focus on a group of characters rather than the entire team. You had enough Cobra agents as well to keep things fresh.
