So, a while back I started messing about with this, perhaps my favorite of all paints, Blood for the Blood God.
Asked a few Qs about how to get splatter effects, but didn't get any responses that felt super concrete.
Tonight, for no reason in particular, I got to thinking about splatter effects again - I'd had a little success sponging, but nothing that felt, y'know, right.

As if possessed by the long-dead spirit of a much better painter than I, I suddenly grabbed my trusty modeling syringe and dipped just the barest, tiniest weensiest tip of the needle into BFTBG, then pointed it at some terrain and hammered the plunger in as sharply as I could.

Spoiler:
In hindsight, friends, practice this with paper to get your hand in first. Do as I say, not as I do... some cleanup to be had on one crate, and also a hand and hopefully none of my bathroom

Got some pretty decent splatters, if I do say so myself! Hope this might be of use to someone, it's dead easy, and I bet you could do it on a mini for a really convincing mid-battle berserker, too!

I'm cheating here, used a brush to make some drips

that looks very cool! I guess you have to put the syringe pretty close or else it spreads out too far.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Maybe about an inch or so, I'd say. After the first splat, you get a few residual droplets left in/on the needle that you can pretty comfortably use to make the splatter seem a little wider, or add some slightly more densely-packed droplets with a second pass. Like I said, I think the key is to do a cheeky test-run with a bit of paper first, just so you get a feel for how it's all gonna land!

Very fun to do, tho

Those are some good results, and probably a good bit better than my attempts with flicking a toothbrush at my minis for blood effects.

Do you just use any old syringe or do you have a specific one?

You can interrogate me all you want, but secretly I'm just three snotlings in a coat with an internet connection.

I'm just using a cheap 2-pack nail art syringe I got from the ¥100 shop - as long as the end of the needle is pretty small, I think you should be good (I wouldn't use a sharp needle, though hahaha).

Thanks so much! I've got about 11 of these shipping containers for terrain, but with that many, even with the weathering, it feels a little repetitive, so a few blood splats breaks things up nicely, imo! Been meaning to track down some Imperial propaganda posters, too, for some extra flavor

I will say, as a little addendum - if, like me, you live in a country with strict anti-drug laws, make sure you rinse your needly thoroughly afterwards. I noticed that after I had splashed a bit of gore about, some BFTBG had gathered in the bit of the syringe where the needle meets the syringe-y bit. This doesn't look (Dear Emperor, I am a good boy, and don't know what drugs look like, promise) at all unlike a needle that's been used intravenously, and could lead to raised eyebrows. Flushing water through the thing a few times seems to work fine.

Looks very good. I tried doing splatter blowing through a hollow lollipop stick, but it spread too much. This looks just like what I was after.

Could you post a picture of the syringe so we get a sense of what kind of art syringe you're using?

No problem! Space Marine for scale. Reckon the syringe is about 1mm or less? Don't have the packaging anymore, but I'm going to be near the shop I picked it up at later, could swing by and double check if anyone wants

I used the same process long ago with red ink. Can't recall the brand but it was also great for making first effects after it dried a bit you could sponge it and it made some crazy icky effects. I might still have my Khorne guys in my album.
