Hey all!

Managed to score an insanely good deal on a Warlord Titan for Titanicus at the start of the month. Spring is coming, and with it, one of the few windows I'll have this year to spray prime stuff, so I wanna make the most of it.

However, because the model's base is so big, I was wondering about maybe making it a bit more exciting - namely, a few bits of terrain, or even a decorative lil 5-man squad of space marines advancing under the titan's feet.

Does anyone know any decent resources for this kind of stuff? I've peeked at a few threads here and there, and it seems like the scale I want it about 6-8mm for humans, or about 1/200-and-something? Anyone know any good companies for this sorta thing that they wanna recommend?

Cheers for looking!

Talon Games makes some good quality (and cheap) terrain scaled for Reaper's CAV game. It seems like it should be the right size.

https://talon.games/collections/cav-strike-operations-10mm-battlefield-terrain?page=1

Most of it would be good for scatter terrain, but there are some trenches and dragon teeth that might look good on a base.

I prefer to buy from miniature manufacturers that *don't* support the overthrow of democracy.

Oooh, very nice, thanks! I love some of their generators! Not on my radar at all, great suggestion!

Will let you off just this once mate...

For tanks and infantry you could try Vanguard (https://vanguardminiatures.co.uk/) or getting stuff 3d printed, there are tons of .stls available for free on thingiverse.

Ooh la la, Vanguard's 8mm marines are GORGEOUS - shame they only sell them in such big batches, I'd love a little squad of them hunkered down in some ruins at my titan's feet...

With thingiverse, am I gonna have to find someone with a 3d printer? I'm SUUUUPER new to the world of 3d printing, and assume it's some kind of magic.

It is indeed some kind of magic, you need to intone the proper rites at the dead of night whilst sacrificing Ginsters pasties to get it to work...
Yeah, you would need to find someone or a company willing to print them for you. I am not sure about availability in Japan but many libraries, hardware stores, Universities etc. around the world offer a printing service. We are also about to launch a thread here on Dakka aiming to hook people up with someone willing to print for them.
If you have no luck locally, are in no rush, want only a small quantity and have the files I might be able to sort you out.

Email them for the entire catalogue, GW found out about them and did not like it.

Unreal Wargaming have some excellent bases. I've bought 9 for my Titanicus Knights, very happy with them indeed.

Otherwise you can do a lot with just scrap sprue, green stuff craters, and if you have the spare parts from the Warlord to make it Chaos/Imperial, cut them up and damage them to make wreckage.

Yup, done that on 3 of my titans, one reaver is using a sprueframe as a trenchwall for some 6mm IG to stand behind, the other is standing on a downed knight, the third warhound has a shoulderplate from a reaver on its base.

Hahaha, do they have any "powered armor marines for space" in that naughty email-only catalogue?

OOHHH, I've seen their stuff somewhere before! Very pretty! I'm tempted, but now I've seen the Talon Games Generators, I wanna have a crack for myself, haha.

Wish I'd heard of their trench terrain before I started my Nurgle R&H tho, those bases are gorgeous. Excellent call my man.

Kinda half-necro'ing this thread for a dummy terrain question - looking to make some sand dunes/hills for the Warlord base - I've got some big polystyrene blocks kicking about, if I break those down then coat them in texture paint, it'll work, right? I don't need to to anything too advanced to get that texture off, do I? Cheers!

I think sand dunes at AT scale will be pretty smooth. The polystyrene and texture paint would give you awesome looking rock outcrops though. For sand dunes you might want nice smooth GS ridges wit super fine sand to get a touch of textures

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Okay - I can live with that, too, haha. Might give it a shot later tonight. I think I might prime the polystyrene anyway, as I'm going to use some Mr. Weathering Color, and I'm convinced it'll just get soaked up and disappear into the polystyrene.
