It seems like with every major event,or faction unveiling we find ourselves witnessing the return of old characters that made the Old World great. Most recently Sigvald returned, and before him the Lumineth had Eltharion returned. It got me thinking of the characters id most like to have back, and I decided that if I had the choice, I would bring Korhil back. His Death was a painful one as he was tortured and killed by his friend Tyrion after he tried and failed to get the Widow Maker away from him. I can imagine that when Tyrion returned to sanity after his rebirth that he was probably overwhelmed by grief, but we never really got to explore that.
I was wondering who the community would like to bring back, and why?

On one hand, I’m against too many characters coming back from WHFB, as I think AoS is deep enough to create their own heroes. But on the other hand if it is handled/written well I’m all for it. Like Eltharion coming back, but he’s still afflicted with The Curse of Years is pretty inspired in my opinion.

I guess my obvious choice is Felix. I’ve enjoyed the new adventures of Gotrek alongside Maleneth, but make it a party of three with Felix back as a Knight-Questor could add a fun dynamic.

A lot of people want an anti-Nagash undead faction. Since Settra, the OG Nagash hater, is in a jar somewhere in Nagash's basement, maybe Khalida can take that spot?

Krell obviously.

And as BoC have no named characters so far, either Malagor or, what seems to be more likely, Morghur.

Playing mostly Necromunda and Battletech, Malifaux is awesome too!

I would rather see factions brought back from the Old World rather than characters. I would prefer it if the Age of Sigmar had it's own heroes rather than relying on weird new versions of old heroes.

+1 to Morghur as a demigod. Would buy that gak in a heartbeat.

I'd rather they didn't bring too many into AoS. It's a big enough setting that you don't need to keep bringing old names in and some of the new heroes have been ace. I'd be fine not seeing Tyrion and Malerion getting models because of the 24 factions currently available 16 are under Order. Yeah, all the factions hate each other regardless of grand alliance but a new or updated destruction army that didn't have an £120 buy-in price would be neat.

You do understand that Tyrion would be part of Lumineth right? Malerion has his own faction that we have not seen yet.
Tyrion's 100% Lumineth though.

In any regards, I'd love to see a few more of the 'missing' Aelfs make a comeback. Alith Anar got done dirty and it's a horrible fate they gave Araloth and Orion.

"Of the 24 factions currently available"...meaning ignoring that Legions of Nagash, Slaves to Darkness, Mawtribes, Warclans, and Gloomspite Gitz exist?

Because there was, at launch, a heck of a lot more factions than what we have now. A good chunk of them are all rolled up into these bigger tomes ala what happened to Cities of Sigmar(which saw more factions just get flatout deleted than anything else!)

Can't help ya with prices.

Frankly, I think characters can potentially work better than factions. But it all depends on how/who.

Alith-Anar, for example, coming back as another pseudo-spirit like Eltharion? Or as some shadow-walking Aelf assassin aligned with Malerion? That'd be a cool concept.
Orion/Kurnoth returning as an Alarielle sized huntsman, with massive hounds as a 'bodyguard' unit? Again: that'd be a cool concept.

Hell, the only reason we have Teclis back is that Tyrion went exploring at the Realm's Edge of Hysh and the spirit dwelling there apparently forcibly separated the twins' spirits.

I'd love to see some more attention focused on the Duardin races though.

To be fair, I can get why people feel like Order is "the focus"...but the same can be said about Death+Chaos.

Destruction's really been left out in the cold though.

I agree with DaBoss;
new characters and heroes and demi-gods...

Maybe Alariel will start behaving like old Zeus and spawn a bunch of offspring demi-gods!

Yeah. I mean they have this cool new setting, add some heroes and villains tailored to that. I like the Old World, a lot, but if I want to read about the heroes of that world I've got my books and stuff. Gimme something new and interesting, and themed around Age of Sigmar.

The focus on old chars definitely seems like the usual corporate hemming and hawing in action. They decided to delete the old world, but then their attempt to launch AoS universe using pretty much *only* stormcast characters backfired (I could not tell you who, aside from Vandus and Gardus, were the SCE heroes in Realmgate Wars series, and i read all of that stuff from a to z when i got into the game). So they fell back on the existing old world gods/characters and brought back as many fan favorites as possible, cause haha, who doesn't love that rascal Thanquol?

Kurnoth is the most likely one I see coming back as they have already introduced a faction that he can be the big center piece model for; the Kurnothi hunters from Beast grave.

I also suspect that Tyrion will be getting a model soon as GW seems to be keen on expanding the Realmlords and eventually I think they will get to him

On that note I can see them doing Malerion at some point if they want to give him his own faction.

As for the Duardin there are two possiblities; Thorgrim Grudgebearer who may or may not be the new Grungni who lead a faction of golem/duardin and Ungrim Ironfist who may or may not be the new Grimnir who could be revived but the Fyreslayers in the future.

Also for Destruction Grimgor Ironhide could be brought back as the new GorkaMorka.

The third SCE hero of note was Thostos, who was perma-killed at the end of the RGW. I am really glad they did too, because though I liked the character it established early on that SCE plot armor is not invulnerable.

There were a bazillion other named characters but they were just along the lines of 'the X hero in this campaign is named Y' much like supporting cast in a novel. They have not been relevant outside the individual stories they have taken part in.

I would like to Ungrim Ironfist return as some sort of Grimnir fire slayer avatar type character. He was the incarnate of fire for a time so has as much right to (Demi) godhood as Tyrion, Teclis, Malerion, and Allarielle.

Tyrion, if happening as a model, will not be a super-fighty lord. He's fully blind now and more of a strategist than anything else. That's why we're getting his Lord-Regent with the new Lumineth wave.

I’d like to see Alith Anar return as like a shadow (as opposed to light) version of Eltharion. As in a being made up of shadow who serves Malerion. This would also be fitting of Malerions humour and character that the elf who lived for 6000 years just to take vengeance upon Malerion now serves him!

Abhorash without a doubt. The first of the blood dragon vampire line and arguably the most skilled fighter in the world of warhammer fantasy. Also the only original vampire who didn't take the elixir of life to gain power, but out of a sense of duty and the only one who tried to supress his urges to drain blood, albeit failing to do so. In the end he was the only known vampire to free himself from the need to drink blood from the living by defeating a great red dragon in single combat and drinking its blood. Imo one of the most interesting characters of old fantasy and deserving to be in the limelight way more.

I wanted to see a model for him so bad back when fantasy was still around.

Surfing the Tervigon Wave...on a baby.

I'd pay for the Seraphon to get an actual centrepiece model.

So give us Mazdamundi as some sort of Divine Avatar of absolute Law.

Nice big centrepiece model, explained by Memory Reincarnation Shenanigans and to be frank, this is the slann that screwed the Dwarves over the equivalent of Feng Shui mountain placement as was quite content to kill everything he deemed 'wrong' without caring.

Absolute. Law. You cannot tell me his willpower wasn't such that he couldn't survive out of spite and eventually be reincarnated. Plus having seen Glutos...

Imagine how fancy Mazdamundi's Palanquin and all would be!

Just fyi, BL also released a short story where the supposed Settra met Mannfred, who quickly established it wasn’t him and obliterated “Settrus” entirely.

Threads like this just remind me how much I miss the Old World.

I know I'm in the minority, but I'd like to see all the factions and characters restored. It's not that there's a problem with AOS Lore, I enjoy it very much.

What I miss is the sense of deep history embedded into the game. AOS still feels too 'new' for it to have the same kind of punch.

Let's hope that Old World game in the future works in our favour.

Now I don't know much about the old AoS, been very much far from my mind. One thing that would be interesting if Malal reared their head and caused up some ruckus. I know there's some copyright shenanigans but the renegade chaos god would be cool addition to AoS.
