FGLTC: When a unit uses this ability, +1 to all charge rolls for all infantry, dreadnaught or bike units, and all negative modifiers are ignored. Also, this can be used in the first turn if you did not go first.

This prevents spam abuse, or null deployment, as you have to actually deploy and roll before you can use this on your turn.

Also, I think we should return to when Custodes had the single greatest off map deep strike ability in the game. Right now it's outclassed by Space marine Drop Pods. I also like the idea that we could incentive the use of this and Allarus Terminators with +1 to charge on any unit that uses it.

I don't get what this is meant to fix.

If the recent changes are anything to go by, we are getting to major changes

1. We are losing out FnP rolls, as most everyone else has at this point.

2. We have no ability to easily get into combat with gunline armies right now, and considering out entire army is based around that purpose, it's silly that we had our big special DS nerfed in 8th to suit the turn 1 problems of that edition. Now with all the major buffs and changes to turns in 9th, especially with shootier armies, we need something to get us across the board that is more assured.

Really this fix counters the emerging meta that is army wide shooting buffs, army wide de-buff auras to movement and charging, and the the overall super-killiness that is 9th.

Now even with a 50% invuln, we still have units that can down us in high damage shooting, or attacks, for a fraction of what we cost.

So I wanted to emphasize what I view as one our key strengths. The ability instantaneously teleport anywhere on the battle.

Because screw GSC, right? Just take their schtick and do it better, with more durable, more Killy units.

How about you can just take a drop pod and pay 70 points for it and not use it because its overcosted as crap.

If we fail to anticipate the unforeseen or expect the unexpected in a universe of infinite possibilities, we may find ourselves at the mercy of anyone or anything that cannot be programmed, categorized or easily referenced.

Genestealer Cults need a total overhaul and you know that.

Yeah. won't lie. GSC are utter crap and I'm not going to hope my faction sucks just because another one sucks worse. GSC were an attempt to make a new guard faction, gone horribly wrong. It's badly done from the ground up. And that's not my fault.

GSC were pretty nifty when they came out and pretty decent post-codex in 8th edition until GW brought out the turn 1 reserves limitation that seemed to target GSC specifically. (And then gave marines drop pods to ignore that restriction a month or so later.)

Question: Aren't custodes already considered pretty fantastic? Maybe I'm just out of touch, but I thought custodes were considered one of the better factions in early 9th. And we're not far out of early 9th yet.

Also, isn't there a banner guy (might need a relic) that lets you add +1 to charges and reroll failed charges? Does he himself not deepstrike or something? Rerollable 8" charges seem like a pretty good deepstrike buff as-is.

ATTENTION
. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.

We don't have a banner that gives +1 to charges. We have one strat, the vexilla teleport homer, that can drop one unit close to enemy units. Only other thing to boost charges we have access to is the dread host strat that let's you charge with 3d6 drop the lowest.

Custodes are fantastic right now. But much of their good results come from our shield guard with 3+ invuln. They just play the mission so well in 9th and they soup nicely. You can plant your shield guard on objectives and soup in sisters of battle for efficient killing power.

We likely going to lose that 3+ invuln. GW is notably moving away from them. And if we do lose them, GW has to throw out shield guard a bone.

Another unit that needs rework are wardens. They are not terrible, but overshadowed by our other elite slots, they need their own niche.

My proposal for shield guard (only If they lose their 3+ invuln) would be to give them a light version of emperors auspice. Make it so you can't re roll the attack roll against them.

Our FW stuff, especially our dreadnoughts, are absolutely amazing though and people are slowly realizing how good the achillus actually is for example.

Custodes are really good, I grant that. But if GW goes the way it's been goingy, (Less save rolls, more killing power) then Custodes are going to be weak tea soon. Everything now is basically D2 or Dd3 damage. And Those that aren't put out a stupid ammount of shots. They seem to be doing away with FnP rolls, which is a good idea for speeding up the game, imho.

As for killiness, think about knights in the meta of 9th. How can you possibly make knights competitive in 9th (Objectives=wins) with a 3-6 unit army? By making them Stupidly powerful shooters.

Obviously I can't predict the future, but if GW is going to balance every faction for 9th, then Knights are going to be stupidly powerful again to offset their inability to get objectives. Say hello to Castellans wiping the table soon.

As for Custodes, if we are losing the FnP, what is the purpose of Wardens? That is literally their only thing. So I'm guessing since GW is so keen on Attack profiles nowadays, they are going to give profiles to axes and spears. Sweeping vs piercing strike.

Based on the buffing of stats around the board, it isn't unreasonable to think that Custodes will be W4 in the future.

Then the SCs will raise likely 1 wound, going to 8, and the bikes will go to 5, and we will still have the exact same problems as before.

Well, I don't know. One wound can change a lot. 5 wound terminators and bikes would mean quite a boost in overall survivability, considering our other stats, invulns and stellar defensive stratagems.

Wardens would still need a rework though, guardian spears still need a small buff, and custodian guard with spears need to be a bit better to be worth taking alongside our guys with storm shields.

I just want custodes to get that extra wound. Then have their spears and blades changed to damage 2. Then have the axes changed to damage 3. More non-forge world options would be nice. More SoS support would be nice too. Though that’s more of their issue than a Custode one.
