I want to like it. But it's by the same team that did Deathwing and visuals aside, that's a colossal piece of gak in terms of gameplay.

Huh. looks like a much better quality game than necromunda underhive, but woof. Someone took far too much inspiration from the frantic, coked-out pacing of the Doom remakes.

I'm definitely expecting jank, but the trailer shows them going for something pretty different. Hopefully they've learned from their past mistakes.

If they can do better combat, that would be something. Deathwing has horrible combat, both poor gunplay and atrocious melee mechanics.

Looks like you can also pick a gender for your character, and give your dog a chew toy to play with:

Wait and see is probably the best approach here since we've got no impressions yet. Heck, we hadn't even heard of the game until a leak popped up yesterday, and now it's only a couple of months until release.

Also, the URL in that pic goes nowhere. They jumped the gun there.

If this is by the same team that made Deathwing will definitely be waiting for reviews first.

Wait and see is the approach everyone should take to all games.

No FPS can possibly take too much inspiration from Doom. This looks interesting, but no one should ever read too much from any trailer.

I like games to be fun, not visual and audial assaults on my stress levels, with muscle spasms from the constant twitching and concern for people dropping from seizures.

The new Dooms are one of the worst new trends in gaming. Some brain-dead developer was repeating 'But this one goes to 11' on infinite loop.

We're talking about a FPS, not an RPG or turn based strategy game. You know what they say: "If it's too loud (or fast, visually stimulating, etc)......"

I don't know what they say, to be honest. If its too loud, I turn it down. Too fast, slow down.

FPS aren't my favorite genre, but I've played more than a few. Caution usually goes further than zip, zap, zoop. Rushing to the finish seems... unsatisfying.

This might seem like a fairly small issue, but one thing that seems a bit offputting to me is what's been shown of the cosmetic system.I very much like the idea of customizing your own character...but if you compare the pre-order bonus, the banner artwork, and the characters shown in the customization section of the site, there seems to be quite a lot of strange overlap with the items seen of them - it looks the be the same coat 4 times, the same shoulder pad, the same harness thing etc, just in different colours. That really doesn't have good implications for it if that is the case.

Generally for FPS’ yes.
But the point is that’s exactly what Doom is. It isn’t the regular FPS that most are.

I’d prefer this to be more like Dishonored or Bioshock with a good mix of other stuff than the shooting.
But I’m certainly hopeful it’s good however it comes out.
I’ll play (and I guess buy) to support if it’s ok enough, as more games in the settings is always good if they put the work in.
I’d hope for it to be on Game Pass Though.
But we’ve got Darktide coming for it already so if I have to buy a couple then that’s fine

Considering it's a single player FPS I'm betting cosmetics that aren't on our weapons aren't going to have much of an impact.

It's been a while since I played it, but I thought the main issues with Deathwing were the AI and mission structure, other than that I thought it was okay?

Hopefully this will be an improvement though.

Mandolore Gaming has done a great review on the game, neatly summing up the feelings of many folks out there who have played the game:

Glad to see Streumon is giving the 40k universe another shot. I’ve never played Deathwing, but I have played EYE (cyberpunk warhammer with samurai space-marines). Despite its jankiness, it certainly seemed like a unique and ambitious attempt at an FPS/RPG.

Hoping the removal of coop gives them a bit more leeway to let themselves go a bit for the single player. I would love to see these guys succeed at a 40k game.

The random 'critical hit' text was weird and jarring. Doesn't really fit what they're going for.

Pacing and music noise seemed a little toned down this time. Gun was... monotonous and dull, but bizarrely effective for a 40k autopistol.

Yeah, that's the sort of thing I'd expect from a game which has numbers popping up from each hit. Hopefully it can be turned off.

Considering there's a preorder skin for a stub gun and now we're getting a video just for the autopistol, I'm wondering if we'll see much in the way of exotic guns, or if they'll stick to the more mundane stuff and just mix it up with the mods.

We obviously will. There's a plasma gun right there in the thumbnail of your video, and the initial video had some sort of green-ball energy weapon (graviton gun?).

Surprisingly accurate for what is basically a 40k version of an Uzi or Mac-10.

Fire rate seems low for something like a mac 10. I guess the game designers went with lower fire rate for lower recoil... and i'll now stop pretending the gun has any basis in reality

Wow, I've never heard someone say they disliked doom. I bet you also hate in no uncertain order: Kittens, sex, pizza, and The Birdcage movie.

Doom2016 dragged FPS games kicking and screaming out from the FPS/DLC drivel void that they'd been in since Oblivion, and was like "SHOOT THIS" YAY! Which is what FPS is supposed to be. And it gave us adaptive heavy metal music that actually changed depending on how well you are killing. Even Hive mind intelligence and future overload John Carmack said it was impressive. I'd really love to know what games you do enjoy in the FPS genre?

Boltgun is up

Rate of fire sounds a bit high, if anything, and missing that bi-prop bang-whoosh that I'd imagine a bolt weapon having. Lot of recoil.
