I'm playing my first game of AoS in three days and I'm looking for some advice on my initial 1000 point list. I've been painting up some Legions of Nagash for a few months and have a few units to choose from. The ones in bold are painted, and I'd really prefer to use them.

Heroes
- Vampire on Nightmare
- Necromancer
- Wight King
- Lord Executioner

Units
- 20 Skeletons w spears
- 10 Chainrasps
- 20 Chainrasps
- 20 Grave Guard w great weapons
- 5 Black Knights
- 2 Bat Swarms
- 4 Glaivewraith Stalkers

I also have a NOS Mortarch, but I haven't decided which one I want to use yet.

I'm going to be playing as part of an escalating league over 3 months starting at 1000 points and going up by 500 per fortnight (1000 - 1500 - 2000). It isn't super competitive (it's meant to encourage new players like me), but I'd like to be able to hold my own. My test list:

Allegiance: Legion of Sacrament
- Mortal Realm: Shyish
LEADERS
Necromancer (130)
- General
- Command Trait: Dark Acolyte
- Lore of the Deathmages: Fading Vigour
Vampire Lord (140)
- Nightmare
Wight King with Black Axe (120)
- Artefact: Azyrbane Standard
UNITS
20 x Skeleton Warriors (160)
- Ancient Spears
10 x Chainrasp Horde (80)
10 x Grave Guard (140)

- Great Wight Blades
5 x Black Knights (120)
4 x Glaivewraith Stalkers (60)
ENDLESS SPELLS / TERRAIN / COMMAND POINTS
Extra Command Point (50)

TOTAL: 1000/1000 WOUNDS: 69

LoN likes to run big blobs of infantry, because you can resurrect them all at once via command ability. You have nailed the character redundancy level quite well, but would be better off consolidating the units somewhat. Skeletons, in particular, are a beast at 40-man but decided meh otherwise due to their bonus stats based on size. 10x Grave Guard with gweaps is a good move for a hammer unit, definitely increase their size when you get to 1500. Slam all 30 of those chainrasps down as a single unit, or at least 20 of them. 5 black knights as a fast unit is a good move at any point size.

Glaivewraths are, unfortunately, awful. They simply aren't viable right now.

Road to Renown! It's like classic Path to Glory, but repaired, remastered, expanded! https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/778170.page

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

Agree with the 9th, find my LoN works best with big blocks of Skellies that wear out the enemy with rezzing, stacked attacks from size, and good spell support. You can roll a ludicrous amount of dice.

I tend to keep most characters in support behind the battle line.
