I've been trying out more beyond just Ironjawz recently, having a recent and fun stint going full Bonesplitterz alongside Big WAAAGH! lists. However, one thing that has always drawn me is the Gloomspite Gitz, partly because I personally love Gobbos but also because their models and playstyle are significantly different from Ironjawz. The main reason I haven't started them as an army is because of how starting another horde army (40k orks are my main army) is both too expensive and not something I'm interested in starting since I've only gotten about a third or halfway through painting my Orks and I want to finish that first before committing to any large-scale projects. I do really want to have a bite sized taste of Gloomspite, so I've considered taking some as allies as a way to have my cake and eat it too.

As a result, I am now considering what would be worth the 400 points to grab from Gloomspite. Logic dictates the Fungoid Cave Shaman, and I've used him before, but I feel like I want to give my main love, the squig units, a bit of a whirl. A Loonboss on Mangler Squigs and one unit of 5 Boingrot Bounderz are just 20 under the 400 point Allies limit. Currently I'm considering adding them to a Big WAAAGH! army list. Would they be feasibly useful in that kind of army or would they be dead weight since they don't actively contribute to the Big WAAAGH! points that I need to generate? Would they be better within an Ironjawz or Bonesplitterz army instead? Just wanted to see if anyone has input on how to make the most out of potential Gloomspite Gitz as allies beyond just the Fungoid Cave Shaman.

They have an advantage in that they are fast and do MWs on the charge, which you otherwise need a Maw Crusher for. TBH they are not the best choice, but they shouldn't be holding you back significantly.

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

Yeah, I pretty much figured that I would be using it as a discount version of a Maw Krusha without having to invest too many points or artefacts to make them useful. Should I only take the Loonboss on Mangler Squig and not bother with the Boingrotz?

Oh no, you should take both. They'll pull their weight. Squigs (all sorts) are fun both to paint and to play with. And 400 pts is a good start on that 2nd hoard army you say you don't want to start.
I also recommend a wizard + the Gloomspites Endless Spells. The spell look really cool, are fun to use, and effective.

Endless fun of the DOOMSHROOM! (Morks Mighty Mushroom) just taking up a section of the board and watching the DoK witch elves eating 10-12 MW on a unit of 30 is glorious!

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I'll be trying them out tomorrow and again next week so I'll be giving you some of their results soon. I'm in the last stage of listbuilding, and since I'm sticking with a Big WAAAGH! list, I was considering taking Gordrakk instead of a bog standard cabbage since he gives me a flat 6 for Waaagh! points and his command ability would buff the Mangler Squig and the Boingrotz. Do you think he's worth the extra points?

You should. Because it is clearly what you WANT to play with, and that matters more than how effective it is. Any justification after that is icing on the cake.

That's fair. I'm not going to any hyper competitive events anyways, so I may as well have have fun with units I want to try out!

Based on everyone's input, this is what I've come up with so far:

Big WAAAGH! Allegiance: 2000 points

Realm: Chamon

Gordrakk, Heavy Un mount trait

Warchanter: Fixin Beat, Artefact: Plate of Perfect Protection

Warchanter: Get Em Beat

Maniak Weirdnob, Artefact: Mork's Boney Bitz, Spell: Gorkamorka's War Cry

Ironfist Battalion:

10 Ardboyz, 4 with shields, 2 with Gorkamorka's Banner

10 Ardboyz, 4 with shields, 2 with Gorkamorka's Banner

3 Gore Gruntas with Pig Iron Choppas

Allies:

Loonboss on Mangler Squigs

5 Boingrot Bounderz

The only thing I'm debating now is if I want to take the Big Wurgogg Mask or to keep his current artefact for the +1 to cast.
