So I'm kind of still new to the current rules, I really have no experience with rules past 5th, so I'm not sure how In-line with the rules my list is as far as slots and such are concerned.

I kind of started collecting Death Guard and painting them towards the end of 8th ed, now I'm trying to get deeper into the rules and new things while fleshing out my collection.

I built this list with the help of Battle Scribe.

Unbound Army Chaos: Death Guard 95PL 1995pts

2x HQ

Lorde Of Contagion w/ plague reaper

Malignant Plaguecaster


4x troops

2 x (Plague Marines x 9 w/ plasma gun, cleaver, flail, blight launcher, icon of despair)
2 x (Plague Champion w/ power fist)

10 x Poxwalkers
10 x Poxwalkers


3x Elites

5x Deathshroud Termies
1xDeathshroud Champion w/ Chimes of contagion 2x plaguespurt gauntlets

1x Tallyman

1x Foul Blightspawn


1x heavy Support

1 x Plagueburst Crawler w/ entropy cannons and Rothail volley gun

Overall this force more or less follows what I've collected so far having the dark imperium DG minis, a total of 20 plague marines, 20 pox walkers (Dark imperium), 3 Deathshrouds, a PB Crawler, and a Foetid Blightdrone.

The Blightdrone is my best painted mini to date so I kind of would like to include it in a list but needed room for Poxwalkers and deathshroud termies. What do you guys think about this list competiively? Does it seem too general and vanilla to be a real threat on the tabletop? I feel like it's a aesthetically pleasing loadout but not necessarily a good one.

The only thing in this list thats kinda subpar are plaguemarines.

You could chop out one unit of plaguemarines to add the blightdrone.

If you keep the plague marines.. strip them of all gear, and max out their numbers (except the flail).

Thanks for the reply, my only question regarding stripping the marines is should I keep their icon/sigil?

The icon requires being in combat. That might happen once in a game per unit. Is that worth a 50% to do a mortal wound for 10pts?

The sigil, seems better, but if you are running guns other than bolt guns... you are diluting its effectiveness.

And lets say that you get to shoot twice in a game with a 10 man unit. Once at range, and then another within rapid fire range. 30 shots... though honestly probably less. Against marines lets say you go from causing 3.33 wounds to causing 4.1 wounds. Its about the same worth as the icon. Its a nice toy, but I'm not sure its quite worth it either.

What is stronger is to make sure that an enemy unit is within your contagion range, because that's free and it causes more damage (-1toughness, and if you have a warlord with a warlord contagion ability you can "flash outbreak" and double up on some poor enemy unit) than either of those paid upgrades. More boys, less toys

I get what you mean. I like the idea of having more models on the table anyway, looks more like a proper army =)

I agree the sigil is better, and since I'm going all bolters it seems like paying 1 pt per dude for slightly better damage isn't so bad. If I had 1 in each squad at 20 points, for a 1.5 more wounds damage increase sounds kind of meh.

I hear 1 CP is valued at around 25 pts, and I think you can spend 1 CP for better damage increases than just .7 - 1.5 wounds but again I'm kind of a newb and don't fully understand all that stuff.
