Decided to pick up a new army for a bit of a 'different' 40K gaming experience, but I'm having trouble narrowing down my choices. I'd appreciate some help!

For this thought exercise, lets pretend that I will have no trouble sourcing anything I need to build the army and have the funds to purchase everything I would truly need to make the army 'work'.

I would say that both of these options excite me equally, so from that aspect they are starting out on the same playing field.

This does not need to be a hyper-competitive army. I have other armies that can be more geared towards tournaments, so this will just be about fun and casual gaming. The possibility exists that I'd take it to a friendly tournament, but never anything 'harder' than that.

I'm judging these options on three criteria:
1) Fun to build/paint/convert
- The army should motivate me to get it finished by being fun to assemble, paint, and convert different poses and what-not.

2) Fun to play in-game
- The army should be fun for me to play a game with!

3) Fun for opponents to play against
- The army should be fun for my opponents to play against.

First option: Close Assault Tau using Farsight Enclaves and Ke'lshan Sept (because I like the FW Ke'lshan models!)
- A tau army that does its dirty work in close and isn't afraid to die for the greater good by getting within 6" and unloading on the enemy at point-blank range.
- Fully mechanized for greater mobility.
- Two squads of breachers and one squad of firewarriors with carbines.
- Lots of suits. Like, lots and lots of suits. Bulk of points go towards battle suits of various flavors, but avoiding the sneaky ones.
- Farsight Enclaves battalion led by Farsight and a Coldstar Commander. Ke'lshan Patrol led by Shas'O R'Lai paired with some pulse rifle fire warriors and XV-9 Hazard suits.

Second option: Counts-As Eldar Corsairs
- An army of Corsairs using Craftworlds and Harlequins rules, because they decided to put the actual Corsair rules out to the legends pasture in the sky. One unified paint scheme that uses the different transports of both armies.
- A lot of conversion potential as I graft all of the correct weapons onto the different miniatures, and because I think some Corsair Wraith units would be super cool!
- Fully mechanized and extremely fast moving.
- I would want to include some of the FW super-heavy tanks, but figuring out how to do that would be a bit of a challenge.
- I've actually already got quite a bit of well-painted corsair stuff, so the 'bulk' of this army would just be refreshing and repairing much of what I currently own.

So, there you have it! Let's discuss! What would you be more interested in as a player? What would be cooler to see on the table in front of you?

One of them filthy casuals...

Do the Farsight force.
Prove to everyone that Tau are not hopeless in 9e.

Why? Because you've already essentially done the Corsairs.
Reorganizing your existing collection & adding fresh paint doesn't make it a new project. Just "maintenance".
