Ok first I was not interested into Warhammer 40,000 till the end times to fantasy, and the death of Star Wars with the mouse. So I’ve been learning a lot about the lore of Warhammer. I really like the lore for the sister of battle. I did not know they came out with a box set in 2019 till it was out of print. On a Facebook group I’m on most people told me it’s not worth it to look for it.
Also I do not like the way the sister of battle heads look, or there helmets. So I’ve been looking at Raging Hero’s figures and wargaming exclusive. I have also thought of making my own conversion. I like lady’s with long hair I do not like short hair. So what I want to know is there any great websites about making conversions. Is the box set no good like every one was saying in the group. One person was saying not to get the army book because they might make a new one for 9th edition.

You should probably buy and start building individual squad boxes rather than chase the old army box. There are more options in the squad boxes, and better numbers. There should be a new codex for 9th shortly. I dont know about the quality of the 3rd party minis, but the new Sisters are great models, fun and challenging to assemble and paint with really cool poses, details, and clever variations.

regarding the army book: Agree with MacPhail, do not buy the current codex! A new one will be out soon. Also, don't buy based on an army list you've created in Battlescribe or similar, as points and options are very likely to change with that new book.

On to the models:

I own both a Raging Heroes and a GW based Sisters army (bought into the Kickstarter back then, before I knew GW would redo the entire line).

Visually both are great, mostly comes down to preference I'd say - however:

Raging Heroes is made of resin while GW is completely made of plastic, so it's a lot easier to assemble

RH does not have models for all options, including weapon options - and I find their aesthetics to be very distinct, so it's hard to find appropriate bits. That's especially true for vehicles, but building them without visible sisters (that would be GW sculpts) is absolutely possible.

Looking at how you dislike GWs sculpts I'd recommend going with RH , or if it really is just the heads check out 3rd party offers (or 3D printing services/sites) for alternative heads.

Another option are Waregame Exclusive's Sisters, but their lineup is even more limited than RHs - but their quality so far was much better than RHs (which was still mostly decent), and they also sell bits. Major downside is that a WGE Sisters army will be the most expensive army out of these 3 options.

As said from everyone, it's ok to start collecting now but don't get the book yet. Just buy stuff you know you'll need, like basic sisters and go with stuff you think will fill the niches you want for the army.

I'd probably wait to finish it off or buff it up until after the new codex drops. That is what I did with the imperial guard when I started collecting them way back during 4th ed. I just bought the items I knew I'd want, good or bad and after the book was out I settled into the things I'd want to run from there.

•The 2019 box:
There's no particular reason to hunt this down as everything in it is available off the shelf.
The only thing you'll accomplish if you do lay hands on one is spend more $ than necessary as you'll be paying a premium for a "collectors item, New in box". Wich is just $$ that could've gone to buying additional Sisters....

Head swaps/conversions:
•I'm not really familiar with the two 3pp lines beyond casually knowing they exist. Do either of them sell heads you like as separate bitz?
•3d printing might also be a solution. I'm sure someone out there has a long haired head sculpt file....
Assuming you've got a proper sized head, conversion is easy. Newhead + GW body & glue.
•And of course there's always the old standby of learning to sculpt with greenstuff & possibly even moving into simple resin mounds.
And yes, there's plenty of online help on these topics.

The Codex....
Something is coming soon as the Sisters have a small wave of additional models in the pipe.
Most believe this'll be a new codex. Afterall, that'd be a perfect time to add the new units, apply the weapon stat changes from the faqs, add Crusade rules, etc. And many believe "soon" to = May(?).
But it's GW, they haven't said anything about the supposed Codex or dates, and they're known to do do stupid seeming things like put content in campaign books etc....
So take talk of new codex + "soon" with a few grains of salt.

If you DO buy a codex right now? Get it as chap as possible.
No matter what it'll give you a decent idea of how to start forming a SoB force.

Worth bearing in mind that there’s about 500 points worth of SoB models coming in the Hachette 40K Imperium magazine though who knows when they’ll actually arrive. They might arrive at a time when you’re looking to flesh out some detachments (and I think it might be the same contents-wise as the OOP box from 2019).

Thanks everybody for your replies of my questions. This has given me more things to think about.
I collected the lord of the rings, and then Warhammer fantasy before age of Sigmar. I collected wood elves. I had to wait for years for a new army book. Once I got one the new army book they made the age of Sigmar. Then my army book was useless. So are you sure they are coming out with a new codex. I will not have to wait for years and then get one about by the 10th edition?

Every model in the 2019 box is an unique sculpt and not available elsewhere. For army building it doesn't make any difference because all the options are available in multipart kits but it may matter to collectors.

Youre going to have an extremely hard time finding long haired sisters heads because of how theyve got like a backpack directly behind their head, and an armored...I think it's called a gorget? The armor piece in power armor that wraps around the head. Hair would basically have to be sculpted on. If youre really committed to it, hair is arguably the easiest thing to svulpt with greenstuff, ive done it myself converting characters with short hair to long hair for custom dnd miniatures.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

GW has previewed 4 new models for the Adepta Sororitas since 9th Edition launched. One is now on sale in the Piety and Pain box with the other three are due in the not too far future. It is highly likely they will be accompanied by a new 9th Edition Codex.

This is the working assumption of most, based on the fact that new models (a tank, a big battle suit, a character & ??) are in-bound & it'd make sense to incorporate those + Crusade rules in a new Codex....
But like I said, GW hasn't said how these models rules will appear.

If you want to play SoB, then in the very near future you'll be doing 1 of two things:
1) Buying the 8e codex + whatever book has the new units
2) Buying the 9e version of the Codex

Until then all you can do is wait & see.

Anvil Miniatures has a 3rd party Sisters line they released during the revamp. You may want to take a look there.

Not just for collectors - while the multi-part kits have tons of options, they're fairly monopose in how they go together, so having a bunch of distinct poses from the army launch set potentially goes a long way in adding visual variety to your squads, which I think everybody can appreciate. As was mentioned before, the same models from the launch army box are going to be in the new Hachette 'Imperium' partwork as an alternative way to pick them up - and if you can actually get your hands on the relevant issues, much cheaper than tracking down and buying the army box.

I agree with holding off on the Codex for now. The number of things previewed suggest that Sororitas are fairly soon on the release schedule for a 9th Ed Codex. If you want to start now I'd pick up some models you like for the faction and start building/painting, particularly basic things like Battle Sisters that you know you'll need, and worry about making a functional army once the new Codex drops.

Cheers, that was new information to me. I haven't payed much attention to Hachette news because the magazine is not available where I live.

Depends. You can find it at RPP and it's discount then even factoring without codex. Discount was better than price of codex. I got 2 of them for cheaper way to start sister army than buying separately. For added fun new poses to differ the damn monopose models sister army is made of.

If there's going to be codex soon it's going to come with the new models. I think that's fairly safe bet. Odds of them releasing new models next month and say codex on october would be small.

On that premise we got previews of new sister models on february. With GW's "previews show up to 3 month" system they have been pretty consistent past years(covid spanner excluded) we can safely say odds are VERY good it's may latest new sister models drop in. Unless covid causes yet another spanner to the mix.

Ergo codex, if one is immident, is likely coming in may. Ergo wait to see if there's codex coming or not isn't that long anyway

If there's no codex with the new models but instead some sort of supplement like adeptus mechanicum had with big model release last year or lumineth now for age of sigmar you can buy codex + supplement fairly safely.
