I remember the original intro spiel for WH40K, which had the whole "to e a man in such times..." "Forget the promise of technology..." "the laughter of thirsting gods.." and ended with the line "But rh universe is a big place and whatever happens you will not be missed."

Now in current versions they seem to cut it down a bit, and generally leave out the "you will not be missed" line.

I know there was a kerfuffle over GW using that you will not be missed line in re to people who did not utterly throw themselves behind their "wokehammer" announcement which shows they have not forgotten it.

So i was trying to guess why that line got deleted from the original intro text. (I wonder who wrote is all those aeons ago...)

Honestly, all i came up with was the theory that someone somewhere decided that line about 'you will not be missed' might possibly make someone somewhere possibly maybe consider suicide, or could just maybe push someone already suicidal over the edge.

yeah, i know, that is fething stupid, but i can see a lot of people thinking that way. So they 'asked' the line be removed, then started pushing it, maybe some suit in the legal department said they might possibly get in some legal issue over it, etc. (I swear the difference between daemons and lawyers is daemons kill you, lawyers make you wish you were dead.)

So does anyone have any thoughts on why the 'you will not be missed" line which really set the dark tone for 40k was dropped from the intro spiel? It's a small thing but i've noticed it, and the only reasons i can think of for it are annoyingly stupid.

I dunno, it could be that over time 40k has shifted from a hobby revolving around inserting yourself as the commander of Your Dudes in the expansive grimdark universe playground to a quasi-historical wargame where players participate in 're-enactments' of events from the fluff.

Or it could be the cancel culture wokescold conspiracy thing you said that somehow never seems to violate the no politics policy on this forum.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

There is a 99% chance someone just went:
"Hmmmm, this is really wordy. We can get the same feeling and message across without all this extra stuff. Cut the long bit make it short."
There is a 0% chance it was "wokehammer" or whatever garbage 4chan and reddit spew.
