Hi all

I am wondering if it would be against any rule/lore written or unwritten to have Eldar aspect warriors with their weapons in the opposite hands? Specifically I'm contemplating some Striking Scorpions with the sword in the left hand and shuriken in the right for variety, but I would be interested in knowing this for all the aspects.

Thanks in advance

EDIT: Oh my, I just noticed that the old metal scorpions actually do have the weapons like I mention, so I guess its a bit of a stupid question. I would still be interested in hearing thoughts though (stupid or not).

If its still the same weapons they are equipped with, Nobody im their right mind would have a problem with this and its certainly not against any particular rule.

Converting models is a huge part of this hobby that sadly GW seems to be less and less interested in (gotta squash those bits sellers) and many new players don't get to see some of the many many awesome converted armies out there today as much as they did back when i was starting,

If you are worried about converting larger stuff eventually ( the possibility of "modelling for advantage" eg..making your own Marine dreadought that is half the size of the official one so its easier to hide in cover, oran apothecary the size of Ghazkull so his aura is measured from bigger base) Then i would think about these points...

1. Is your conversion roughly the same size as the official model? (mostly important for larger models like monsters and vehicles)

2.Do any weapons you have converted look similar enough to existing ones to convey what they are? ( not really that important as you can simply tell your opponent what it is before the game)

3. Is the base the model on the same size as the official one? ( if you are playing tournaments, this one would be conisdered pretty important)

If all you are interested in is a simple hand swap however, go ahead!!! Anybody who complains about that is unfortunately going to turn out to be what is often refferred to as "THAT GUY" and really not worth bothering to play in the first place.

Really wish GW would have more converting articles in white dwarf outside of the odd Blanchistu every now and again.

I don't think there's any a fluff / lore reasons against it - aren't all Eldar ambidextrous?

I'd be offended if you turned up with your models all in stock poses, every army needs some conversions!

But in all seriousness, it is good to think about if the conversion could be modelling for advantage. However, even the most debased rules lawyer would struggle to argue against a left handed Striking Scorpion!

If I ever met a player who looks at my models and unironically goes "Say, your units are holding their close combat weapons in the wrong hand, we have a problem here" I'd voluntarily quit the game and avoid all further contact with him.

I'd laugh at them first.

I'd honestly be stuck for a minute or two, trying to figure out what the 'joke' was.

Not sure, but I'm pretty sure most of the eldar range has them holding swords in their left hands. Which I always chose to believe was a nice little touch intended to make them feel inhuman. Lefties? How shockingly alien!

ATTENTION
. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.

your mind

The big trouble is the actual hands... need the right bits to make things work out, swapping right for left handed.
