Hi -
As mentioned, I'm not a player and was wondering what Sentinel weapon is best / more intimidating against troops ?
Starting a Wrath and Glory RPG campaign and thought the Sentinel might make a cool adversary.
Thanks !

Probably the Multi-Laser. If I was running around in the 41st Millenium, that would be the scariest of its weapon options, because that thing would have very high rate of fire. Missile Launcher would likely also be terrifying.

well, either a heavy bolter or a heavy flamer are the leading choices against dismounted troops in the open. the heavy bolter is, after all, basically a modern 20mm autocannon but with FUTURE TECH and exploding rounds. the heavy flamer.....is a freaking massive flamethrower. 'nuff said.

one works well at range, the other up close. in close terrian the flamer is more scary because it can reach targets in cover, even ones quite deep in cover. in wide open spaces (very wide, like hundreds of meters wide) the ability of a heavy bolter to shoot at you beyond the range of your own lasguns and bolters is more scary. the Heavy bolter can also do a number on most light vehicles as well, so that might be a factor.

To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be relearned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods.

Only Elysian Drop Sentinels have access to Heavy Bolters, and they're in Legends. Multilasers are the "direct fire dakka" for standard Sentinels.

Also, this may just be my luck, but remember that the Sentinel is going to hit on a 4+. The Missile Launcher seems like a nice option on paper, but you will never be more aware that you can't spell "Missile" without "Miss" than after you give a Sentinel one (not sure how Blast changes the math on that, though - haven't had a chance to play a game of 9th yet).

Multi-laser is the obvious choice. It'd be the most common weapon seen across the galaxy on sentinels. It's a high efficient weapon and from memory very effective in an RPG like only war.

If you want an anti-infantry option with more power. Then the next would be the autocannon. Though then you'd have to think about ammo, possibly how it would reload if it runs out. What kind of ammunition its carrying.

Currently the heavy-flamer sentinel is the best vs troops, not only is it very killy, but you are not afraid to get it stuck into close-combat.

It fills the role as both killy and a road-block to anything trying to massacre your fleshy guardsmen.

If you are running Cadian the plasma-cannon sentinel can also be a good option if you don't plan on moving it much.
