Hello all,
I'm looking for a noble Traitor Legion so I can set myself apart from so of the other less stable ones. Surely there was a group out there who had some shred of sanity left, and wasn't possessed or insane.
Thanks!

Sooner or later chaos corrupts all.
Results are insanity/ pure evil.
What is your objective? Are you looking to start a new force ? Making home brew chapters of fluff ? Is this for HH or 40k?
In theory there were "loyalist" traitors. Not all traitor legions turned full traitor en masse all at once. There would have been elements that refused to turn against the emperor, that were not immediatly present at istvan. These could have been out in the sticks not aware that Horus turned traitor, small garrisons etc. For example Guiliman had elements of Iron Warriors working for him.
Alpha Legion is probably the most logical choice as their loyalty and agenda is unknown by alpha legion themselves lol.

I'm looking to make my second force for AT. Something small, no larger than 1500 points. I really wanted to break away from my Dauntless paintjob, but I just can't settle on a traitor legion. Suppose a far-off expedition would work, but a classic red vs. blue matchup would look better (in my eyes) in a demo game or a friendly pick up.

Oh sory, I didin't read the title properly it seems my bad.
I'm not well versed with AT and titans legion stuff in general to be honest. Most 40k/ HH stuff tends to focus on marines. What I gather from reading books like mechanicum (Probs one of my fav HH books) pretty much all the chaos knights and titans are infected by scrap code causing them to turn to chaos.
I don't think there is any harm in creating your homebrew legion to justify the paint job though.
Can base it off one of the Mars based households that was out on deployment or fighting during the mars uprising when everything is falling apart and people are picking sides still. So find one you like the paint job of in your preferred colours and homebrew some fluff to justify them being good guys.

You could easily do an 'early Heresy' era Legion, that perhaps strongly discounted the Emperor=Omnissiah belief, and sided with Horus out of loyalty to a intensely popular Warmaster and distrust of a distant Emperor who (you believe) was allowing religious delusion to infect your colleages. Later, they might realize the deep, deep doo-doo they got into, but right now, the would simply be ideologically opposed to Loyalists.

You could do Legio Xestobiax, who are mostly loyal, but a battlegroup ended up fighting in defense of the Thousand Sons on Prospero

Legio Damicium from Crucible of Retribution are sort of noble-ish. They're proud of their ability to endure hardship, though envious of others who have an easier time. They've got a couple of decent traits, so they're better at repairing critical damage and can ignore its effect. Better command checks too for their smaller engines.

Game wise you could take a look at Defence of Ryza's Custom legio and allegiance rules. This way you are free to use any paint scheme you like.
