Hey all.

Played 40K for a long time, but in the mood to try Zilla Nid list.  Anyone know how this is done?

I know 2 Tyrants, and something like you can get 6 fexes with 6 str 6 shots rerollable?

Kind of need help, I'm getting the codex tomorrow, but any info in the mean time will be useful, as well as tactics...

My article is written more on a general perspective on arming your Carnifexes (although it will give you some great guidelines to follow).

The Godzilla list has some specific features to it that require even more nuance. For example in a basic Tyranid list your Gunfexes really shouldn't be charged at all since you have a ton of units swarming across the board.

Against a Godzilla list, the enemy will often try to close with you quickly and get into CC with isolated Carnifexes. Because of this, the point was recently brought up that giving a Gunfex +1WS (to give him WS4) would be a good idea to protect him from Powerfists.

While I don't think this kind of upgrade is an absolute necessity, it isn't a terrible choice in a Godzilla list because of the nature of the army you're playing with.

Anyway: In a Godzilla list you should really be sticking with 3 Dakkafexes and 2-3 Gunfexes. If you're going with the Psychic Choir (5 Psychic Screams) then you'd be dropping out a Gunfex for 3 Zoanthropes.

Your two HTs should have one winged with either x2 Scything Talons or x2 TL Devourers (player's choice. . .but if you're doing the choir I'd take the shooting version). The walking Tyrant should have a Venom Cannon and TL Devourer with at least 2 Guards.

The rest of your points should be spent on Spinegaunts to tie up charging units and Genestealers/lone Ravener units for counter-charge when the enemy can't stand your shooting.

The biggest thing to understand is that the Godzilla list is a shooting army with potent counter-charge. Many players still can't grasp the idea of a Tyranid army that is based mainly around doing damage with shooting.

yakface's 40K rule #1: Although the rules allow you to use modeling to your advantage, how badly do you need to win your toy soldier games?
yakface's 40K rule #2: Friends don't let friends start a MEQ army.
yakface's 40K rule #3: Codex does not ALWAYS trump the rulebook, so please don't say that!
