I have read lore and played games of the 40k setting for some years now, I admittedly don't know everything about 40k, and this is one of those moments. Does anyone know about Custodes recruitment? I read somewhere that most of them were descendants of the subjugated warlords of Terra, beaten by The Emperor of Mankind during the Unification Wars, I know that there are roughly 10,000 Custodes at any given time, but how do they replace there dead (I also know that any time they lose the battle never happened shut up you're a heretic), will they just grab any random person, or child, off the streets of Terra? I understand the augmentation process is a secret. Do they have Initiates in a similar manner that Astartes do (having a scout company etc.)? I know that they are trained in every way you could possible murder something, as well as "diplomatic"** skills, how long does it take to train them? Any help is appreciated thanks in advance.

**as in if I have to repeat myself I will blow your fracking head off.

P.S. Also on an unrelated side note, does anyone know what happened to the Cadian stuff on FW? I was looking to buy some Hazardous Environment bits but they are just completely gone.

Custodes are more like GK in that they don't have something as not fully gene forged brothers. The difference between them and space marines, is that they are each gene moded on a one to one basis, making their creating more like that of imperial assassins then the mass produced marines.

If you have to kill, then kill in the best manner. If you slaughter, then slaughter in the best manner. Let one of you sharpen his knife so his animal feels no pain.

Custodes are genetic works of art, each one crafted specially from an infant into a Custodes. Whereas the Astartes ascension process is documented and understood, Custodes are made through bio-alchemy that only a select few on Terra know. A noble family will leave a child on the Avenue of Sacrifice to be taken in and turned into a Custodes however, the intense genetic tampering leaves most initiates dead.

As for the Cadian stuff, FW axes stuff all the time with little to no warning but with the new Cadian upgrade sprue it could be assumed that the Hazard upgrade was axed because a plastic head similar to them was in production for GW. FW has a huge catalog for being a "specialist studio" and upgrade kits are always the first to go when space is needed for new products.
