Guarded Grey Knight Terminator

Since the grey knights were teased on day 5 of Warhammer fest, I curious what yall think the grey knights will receive.
I saw in the video a dreadknight and crowe. What I think is interesting about crowe is that the black blade of antwyr seemed to be giving off a visual aura, like it was being used or activated in some way. Crowe also looked a little primaris.
Just thoughts what do you all think? Link is for the announcement, video is toward the bottom.

GK are going to be one half of a two-player box. The GK half will have PAGK (no Terminators) and a Rhino in an effort to clear the shelves of stuff nobody cares about, along with the new Crowe mini, which they'll use to claim the box has new stuff in it.
(Blood of the Phoenix take two, in other words.)

I don't like power armoured or most primaris models. So if the update is a new rhino/razorback, new PAGK and Crowe it won't be much for me. But I do hope they have nice updated rules, so people buy them.
Would be nice to get a start collecting box though. double boxs are always too expensive, unless someone plays both armies.

I didn't say new Rhino/ PAGK. I said they were going to try and clear the shelves of the old ones that aren't selling, and include Crowe so they can print "NEW GK MODELS" as a clickbait headline. And then use the fact that the box sells really badly because of the deadweight units nobody cares about as justification to push the actual update back for years.

But Crow doesn't have a plastic model. I guess they could make a new model for him. But then buying one big box, with another army glued to it, just to get one model you can build out of a plastic PAGK box anyway, would be rather expensive. But I guess it would be something more directed at model collectors. I just not sure if there are enough of those playing or collecting Grey Knights.

I know. That was the joke. Do you remember when Blood of the Phoenix came out, and GW hyped "plastic Aspect Warriors!", but bundled them with two of the worst units in the Craftworld book in hopes that "plastic Aspect Warriors" would excite people enough that they could also get rid of their massive overstock of Vypers/Falcons that have been bad since 5e?

Oh, a joke. That explains a lot. Well maybe they will sell some sort of event book alongside of it. We don't really have any info, besides that the extremly high chance of a Crowe model.
They are really going to have to change his rule for him to carry an entire army, specially with his low speed.

I like the way you are thinking Rake.
1 x new Crowe
1 x 10 Strike Squad
1 x Rhino
vs
1 x new TSon HQ unit
1 x Tzaangor Shaman
1 x 10 Tzaangor
2 x Tzangor Upgrade Pack
I'm trying to think of how you would make a TSon version of the DGuard Lord of Virulence. Obviously step one would be to claim he buffs something in the first few previews but make sure he doesn't do that in the codex. So say that he gives buffs to Tzaangors but then make sure his aura only affects CORE and make sure Tzaangors aren't CORE. There we go!

I'm already overstocked.
3 NDKs sitting in boxes because they're hard to pose and weren't good most of 8th. At least 30 PAGKs, 2 Rhino / Razorback kits, along with my actual army.
Remember when Voldus came out and the only way to get him was with Gulliman and Cypher? GK can't get a new character without having to buy other things you can't use.
Let's hope the box is better than this.

Surely at some point grey knights would start drafting primaris. Although I’m not up on my GK fluff. I still think of them a force of 100% terminator armoured psychic force weapon wielding super secret chapter

I expet it to be a single character model plus existing units, similar to Piety & Pain.
What I'm hoping for is a proper reintegration into a larger Ordo Malleus faction with an accompanying codex and models, Inquisitors and retinues included. Grey Knights don't need primaris, but they could use a scale update imo.

Seen some kitbashes of GK with interecessor torsos on Reddit, looked good IMO. I wouldn't dismiss the idea of GK going rubicon.. I mean, you could still use the existing kits for everything else but the torsos.

GW claimed a while ago that GK wouldn't be primarised. The cynic in me says this is less about lore and more about the fact that the GK plastic kits are still quite recent and there's no appetite to do a whole new set of GK-exclusive plastics just for one tiny faction.

This is what happens with every duel box, not just blood of the Phoenix. Blood of the Phoenix is the exception as it had more than just two new heros in it.

I think that showing an NDK meant something- either there will be one in the box, or they've created a character HQ in an NDK.
I think it's more likely that a new Crowe, a regular old NDK and a unit of strikes will make up the GK half of the box.
I'm not a fan of the NDK model, though I don't hate it to the degree that many people do. But I would like a small force for story purposes. It's a tough call.
Looking forward to getting more info.

expecting just one character model each. Hope there's more, but doubt it.
Primaris grey knights seem like a pipe dream to me. There would be a lot of lore implications since they're super-de-duper double plus ultra secret, even from someone like Cawl.
Plus I don't think the tolerance is there for yet another Primaris update; especially for a faction that GW is kind of indifferent about supporting.
On the upside it would only take a handful of kits to do, including the non-special characters. Presumably they'd also do Gravis replacements for the Terminators if, on the off chance, they decide to do this.

You can thank the people who kept panic-buying Falcons/Vypers anytime there was rumors of them being permanently shelved for that. GW genuinely believes that people want items like that.

It was the Triumvirate setup. You weren't special. Everyone got characters bundled--the only difference is that only Ynnari characters stayed bundled. The rest all saw individual releases.

That... doesn't work. The 'primaris' bits on a model are, basically, the body.
And currently, the grey knights are pretty distinct- they aren't just the shoulder pads and a selection of heads and weapons like the existing upgrade kits. The torsos and limbs have embedded inscriptions, built in psychic hoods, etc. They also have distinct weapons, shoulders and everything else. Nothing works as an upgrade kit.
The current models are rather dated and clunky looking- for example, the PA stormbolters are just a bit silly, as they don't fit on the arms. Really, there aren't many options.
Option one: Redo a character and call it an update (similar to Death Guard, Dark Eldar and Ad mech)
Option two: Revise and resize the entire product line (luckily not that many kits), including the oddly posed terminators. This is basically what they've been doing for Chaos Marines.
Option three: Full primaris update (maybe leaving the old models in place as a nod towards current players, and to bulk up the book)
They pretty much have to do one of these three. Given how GK often end up, I suspect they're going with option 1. Option 3 is the second most likely, because non-primaris loyalists seem an abandoned concept.

Like how they decided that Primaris Deathwatch should be a pauldron on an Intercessor with no distinct wargear/rules? Eh. Sure, they could, but I'd hope they'd stick to the maximum use from minimum kits approach they did with the range back in 5th and do a Primaris PAGK kit and a GK Gravis kit with distinct equipment.

2011, 10 years may be old by space marines standards but GKs aren't space marines when it comes to the commercial side of things, they're like any other minor faction because their kits are unique. 10 years old isn't old by GW standards for plastic kits for non- SM factions.
I mean put it this way: why would GW want to spend a bunch of time redoing a whole line of special GK-only kits that they can sell to maybe 1 in 20 40k playerbase, when they could instead release 5 generic space marine kits that they can sell to literally half the 40k playerbase? That's why you see primaris kit after primaris kit, while other factions languish.
If GK do go primaris, it'll be by just rolling them into the generic space marines kits with an upgrade sprue to customize them, the same way that, for example, black templars have. Which would be a massive step back in terms of GK distinctiveness.

Primarising a faction means giving it a bunch of new kits, not just replacing the old ones with slightly bigger versions. Just because there are only 2 GK squad kits right now doesn't mean they'd only have 2 primaris kits. If they instead literally replaced all the old marines with primaris verisons of the exact same unit, that would be fundamentally different than what they've done anywhere else.
