Hello everyone!

I have a major dilemma. I am building an army of mortal followers of Slaanesh. When I saw the Hedonite battletome had mortals, I got excited, got out my Lord on Boobsnake, gathered my paints and...

...what? There is no mounted hero to go with the new Slickblades - including no entry my lord on Boobsnake can pretend to be. No real behemoth that isn't a Greater Daemon or special character. But the units are flavorful - new Seekers are great as are blissbarb archers and the infantry.

Conversely, I could run my Boobsnake Lord as Slaanesh Slaves to Darkness (Lord on Krakadrak or Daemonic Mount) and bring Soul Grinders...

Anything that can be given a Mark of Chaos in Slaves can be taken in Hedonites without having to use the ally system

Right but they don't really benefit from the allegiance rules without the HEDONITE keyword, so they're basically allies without counting against the ally limit. Whereas bringing them as real Slaves to Darkness gives them the abilities.

Yes, you can give them artefacts and command traits from Hedonites, I think that's better than allies to be fair. But not super great.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding. You want to run your army as Hedonites and are torn between running the Slaves as Units marked Slaanesh or allied Slaves units?

I don't think they gain anything from the Slaves book when taken as Allies so best to either run them in the Hedonites army or alternatively run the Army as Slaves and Ally in the mortal Hedonites you like.

No, I'm torn between running my mortals as Slaves To Darkness (from that battletome) or as Hedonites of Slaanesh (from its own battletome) because I like the idea of a mounted Slaanesh army supported by some sort of war engine (like soul grinders).

I like the mounted units of the Hedonites better, but the lack of a mounted leader is kind of an issue (though I can run an STD mounted lord, he can neither keep up with them nor buff them nor benefit from allegiance abilities).

I like Slaves to Darkness because I can run a kick-butt mounted leader and Soul Grinders as the engines, but I miss out on summoning (mostly) and the actual units aren't as cool or thematic for Slaanesh.

I'm no expert on the new Slaanesh book but I'd lean towards Slaves.

A Cavalry force benefits greatly from the Aura of Slaanesh. If you ran them as Knights of the Empty Throne you'd have a massive aura of reroll run and charge from the Varanguard general. Can always ally in your favourite Hedonite unit(s)
