Hi,

over time, a lot of Stratagems have become available in AT. The benefits seem to me to vary from “must have” to “nonsensical”.

Not everybody has the time to analyse all the Stratagems and to deal with them or to test them, I thought I would open a thread on the topic here.

For example, I would rather reluctantly play without "blind barrage". Since I often had bad luck pushing the reactor, I also found “Gift of the Dark gods” extremely helpful, but with 3 points it was also expensive.

How are your experiences with the Stratagems in AT? Which ones are important and which ones are nonsense? Does such a topic make sense at all?

greetings

Alex

The Stratagem system is one of the very few things I don't like about AT, in that you have to purchase them before the game. While it makes sense for a number of them such as the Battlefield Assets, some of them seem far too situational.

I usually play Astorum for example, and their strat is 2CP for +1 to repair critical damage across the board for a single location. Are there going to be enough Titans critically damaged in the same location at the same time to justify this over other strats?

Ya I mostly only like the battlefield asset stratagems, they help give scale and they're at least visual. The problem with a lot of the stratagems is the multi use ones vs the one use only. Like titan hunter infantry are great, but you also get them all game and scoop them in the end phase every time. There's also a lot of them that sorta function like wargear but can get screwed over by vox blackout, they really should have just made those like relics, basically one use wargear.

Do you play 30k? It'd be a lot cooler if you did.

I like the Wargear mechanics more than the Stratagems, but I think some lists - for example Warhound-only-Battlegroups, have it very difficult without certain Stratagems.

Especially if you have 5+ Stratagem points available, the Stratagems can be an important element in the game, in my opinion. Or is someone playing without stratagems?

Some people play a few starter games without them just to learn the fundamentals.
