I am hoping to add a regular bit of battle reports now that i put my infinity back into the game bag.

This game was a bit of a refresher so i let my friend use part of my haqqislam collection since he no longer has his army together(he plays nomads)...although i had to do a bit of proxying since i re-use several models across my army lists.


This battle was a haqq general list led by saladin VS a sectorial djanbazan themed link team list.



The table



We had 5 mysterious objectives 2 were boobytraps, 2 were liftable and 1 was hackable.

we used a full 6X4 table

The sectorial list was winning the body count battle but the generalist list managed to score a single objective to win the game.

Both objectives the sectorial list found were the boobytraps.

It has been WAYYY to long since i broke out the infinity.

A regular at the FLGS has some infinity minis but has never played the game. he agreed to try out N2 because he liked several aspects of it after i explained the differences between the editions

including the larger table size, simpler hacking rules, and suppression corridors. although we did still have the N3 stats table for destructible terrain if needed, but it never came up.

I originally bought this map with infinity in mind because of all the small pathways and non linear setup.

After a serious application of terrain from various companies it ended up looking like this.

In the process of this i ended actually running 3 different players through the game with two 250 point armies from my collection of haqqislam. one hassassin muyib themed sectorial and one Khalqi djanbazan themed army.

Game wise i went with simple 6 token objective setup with 2 hackable and 2 liftable objectives and 2 boobytrap mines.

Everybody had a fun time, the guy who already had an army to paint is a bit more motivated now, and the others are looking to choose factions to play.

A quick training game.....there seems to be loads of love for ariadna, the player i was teaching borrowed one of my HAQQISLAM lists but he wants to play the low tech guys.

we had 6 objectives-4 that could be picked up with variable PH penalties and 2 consoles to hack.

The game was 300 points and we were using the N2 core rules as they are my preferred rule set. the army lists are from N3.

The game went 3 turns with him ahead on points, but in the bottom ( i went second) i put him over his flee value and his army broke and ran.

Killing the mughariba. took forever. however, his deployment wasn't too smart putting it out in front of both my TAG and my djanbazan link team....i only managed to kill it with cumulative critical hits that by passed his armor (he was rolling those saves like a champ). i lost the setup roll so he learned a bit about terrain deployment as i literally could not see the right side of the board with 3/4 of my force. that is how he managed to get so far ahead on points.

MVP for me probably was the odalisque with boarding shotgun.

Your Tables are just gorgeous, thanks for sharing. Why do you prefer N2?

I'm really keen to get more games of Infinity in next year. Tournament end of Jan here in Australia.

The game has been skewed more towards tournament play as such they have reduced the size of the board, decreased the number of turns and dumbed down many rules that made the game interesting.

Many current N4 players stuck in the 3 turn 4X4 table don't know the game used to be 6 turn on a 4X6 table and ranges were much larger.

This is an old official micro art studio game mat for infinity back when the game first came out. (i love it, the one i have gets used a lot)



sniper rifles and missile launchers could go out to 104" and get up to a -6 mod at that range.

The other issues i have are
.how they introduced the command token system
.they made combined actions much harder to use
.created hacking bloat by overdoing the mechanics

Originally there was one piece of gear called a hacking device and it did 7 things
.freeze HI
.freeze/take over a TAG
.call in guided ammo
.counter hack another hacker (directly or through a repeater) causing a wound to the loosing hacker
.hack guided ammo
.hack off table transports
.allow hacking of objectives/locked doors etc..
(EVO did 3 things-allowed a full BTS attempt to take over a TAG in one order, link multiple hackers together, add +3 to the hackers skill)

compared to now where there are at least 4 different types of hacking devices that all have a list of various things they can/cannot do

.N4 also made flee value kind of pointless.
.dumbing down of religious/courage skills

.The removal of the crit system causing a single wound with no save allowed and the additional removal of the crit Vs crit tiebreaker of comparing the opposing models base skill stat being used in the ARO,

.suppressing fire going from a tactical 2" wide corridor of fire at full burst with the stats of the said weapon that had to be broke by forcing the model in question to choose to react to some other threat. to a 180' 24" max range with a negative modifier and fixed B of 3. taking away the tactical play of dealing with a model on suppression.

I do not mind the changes to some of the weapon profiles or the new weapons added in N3, they still work fine with N2

There are a couple of other changes i disliked but those are the major ones.

.The setting and models are still fantastic and some of the newer designs are even better than the old ones.

I play HAQ because i love the look of the classic Djanbazan but i hate the look of the new ones. conversely i have both versions of the maghariba TAG and the new one is amazing, as is the properly upscaled new Az'rael.

Game 1

there was a single objective that could be carried but had a -9 mod to pick up. to make it more interesting it was locked inside the compound so no TAGs could get inside and strong arm it.

It turned into a shotgun fight in a hallway as my anatmatic managed to sepistor half his link team and my cronotid killed the other 2 with plasma.

The odalisque finished off the anathmatic but it allowed my cronotid to run in and after several tries grab the objective and run off the table with it.

The second ame we stayed with the same forces but reset the scenario

This time there were 6 liftable objects on the table. 4 worth 1 point (-3 PH) and 2 worth 2 each (-6 PH). capturing them removed them from play.

This time it started out with a long range machinegun duel. that ended in the TAG victorious but only barely. in the end even thoiugh the CA was ahead on points they were forced to flee from combat losses. victory for the HAQQ forces.

Bit of a training game tonight-

put my combined army up against a nomad test list-

I swapped out one of my void operators for a base morat so i could upgrade the other void operator to a hacker.

His army was-
.mobile brigada LT
.intruder HMG
.intruder multi sniper
.zoe & piwell
.tomcat doctor with zondcat
.spekter with ADHL
.sin eater HMG
.ad combat jump hacker....i think it was a hellcat-

the table with my new batch of 3d printed cars.

He won first turn. and managed to score a 3 of the 6 objectives but it left a few of his guys in bad spots. i managed to kill the hellcat and the spekter. then sent to anathmatic around to murder his LT...in a protracted firefights and 2 crits later the tomcat had to sneak on the table behind him and finish him off. then he bagged my void operator.

He got brave with his LT who had courage and stood in the open shrugging off plasma rifle and HMG fire to grab the last 2 objectives for a solid win.

It was a great fight. i look forward to our next foray.

It's been a while, in the mean time i have been gathering new terrain for my infinity games. i've added a bunch of corvus games terrain 3d printed buildings.

Since we are playing N2/3 we play with the old 6X4 table size. this is how it turned out-

we did a total of 3 games at 300 points

the first i was using my combined army and loaned out my khalqi djanbazan themed force for my opponent to use.

we had 2 hackable terminals with the khalqi force defending. it was a good fight that went almost the full 6 turns in the end the CA was put into withdraw because their units are so very expensive.

game 2 was the opposite i was attacking with a muyib themed hassassin force with my opponent switching to CA.

It lasted one turn as my ragik air dropped on the objective and took it even with a -9 WIP roll after a bit of lasiq sniper rain.

We did a reset and decided to just do a straight up battle. i lost a good number of units but still managed to squeeze out a victory thanks to the viral rifles my lasiqs brought to the battle.

Broke out the old N2 Paradiso matt from antenocities workshop.

did 2, 300 point games with my opponent choosing a general panO list with the jotum VS my general Haqq list.

Game 1 i went first and managed to do enough damage to force the panO side to withdraw.

Game 2 he managed to go first and hurt me pretty bad, i managed to smoke his LT and drag the objective within 2" of the board edge for victory. but i could not stop the jotum from taking it back even having to run through a gauntlet of repeaters that i tried to use to freeze him....i rolled so many natural 20 failures, my dice must have been playing DnD.

The objective in both games was to get to the hover sled and push it off the table but it was difficult to move so you could only use 1/2 your full MOV distance when moving it.

Other fun highlights- his Swiss guard tried to sneak on the objective in the first game, got discovered, then hacked/ frozen by the cammo hacker he just strolled by...then got shot to death by the Lasiq viral sniper.

the other was my Farzan flanking around to his left using a boarding shotgun on his LT, mechanic and a couple remotes who were all nicely lined up.

We seem to be on an infintiy kick at the FLGS.

did 4 games this weekend-

game 1 was combined army VS a Djanbazan themed sectorial-

victory went to combined army mostly thanks to the anathmatics plasma rifle.

game 2 the combined army went up against a Lasiq heavy hassassin sectorial.

Viral sniper rifles won the day for him here.

Game 3 we changed it up a bit with a test list PanO knight sectorial VS combined army.

a very quick victory for the hispitallers

Game 4 a general Haqqislam list faced the knights and pulled off a victory via objectives.

The table set up this time was water heavy as one of the players who was supposed to join in wanted to use his bagmari amphibious list.

We seem to be doing most fighting on paradisio apparently-

the table-we are suing N2 rules so a full 6X4 table as the game was originally designed
