Gathering the Informations.

From the CA2021 article
On the topic of surprises, we already know that the Orks and Adepta Sororitas codexes are on their way, but what about the next two?

Well, we’ve got a confession to make – the points values featured in the Munitorum Field Manual MkII for the Thousand Sons and Grey Knights are actually incorrect. That’s because their codexes were intended to be out at this point, complete with their fancy new rules and updated points values. Sadly, due to the fickle winds of fate (for which we can only presume Tzeentch is to blame), the release of these books has been delayed until a little later in the year.

But the important thing is, the Thousand Sons and Grey Knights are indeed both getting a new codex in the coming months! In fact, you can take a look at their stunning covers right here.
Spoiler:

As you’ll see in the Munitorum Field Manual MkII, the Thousand Sons are also getting a new HQ choice called an Infernal Master. Sounds ominous, right? We’ll have more on this mysterious new addition to the sons of Magnus nearer to their codex’s release, so keep a third eye out for them on Warhammer Community.

For now, you can download the updated points values for the Thousand Sons and Grey Knights using the button below. These points values cater for all the units from both of these factions, and they are designed to be used alongside their current codexes until their new books arrive.

So it sounds like "Infernal Master" is the new Thousand Sons model in the GK v TS box.

If Grey Knights models actually looked even remotely like that cover art, I'd start collecting them.

On the article information, though -- aren't Immortals already 17 pts vs Warriors at 13, so 4 points diff? I only have the app on hand to check so maybe it's wrong. Maybe they mean Tesla is now free? (it should be free)

Hey look. Primaris Grey Knights.

And it's good to know that after the effort of putting out an Ork Codex, GW will be taking a break with another two power armour books. We wouldn't want them to wear themselves out completely, now would we?

I also think Storm Speeders were the closest space marine vehicles got to good, and these price cuts will make them see some play maybe.

I find it hilarious that they've released stinky marines and now egypt marines before standard chaos.

I was going to poo poo this, but looking more closely at the knees of the grey knight on the right, it does appear to have that flared up trim that tacticus armor has. Interesting. We do also know that their artists seem to be taking a few more artistic liberties lately, though, with art not necessarily representing available models. (see: codex death guard and codex adeptus mechanicus)

Unfortunately I don't think that's the case.

It's just that in the art they don't make them look like sad deformed squats, so they look more like primaris, but the armour features match the old models.

They're not primaris - they are wearing the same armor they have now.

That art is rough though - look at their tiny little hands ...

It makes a kind of sense, especially if the rumored Emperor's Children and World Eater books are coming.

best news is that none of my remaining armies are coming anytime soon (Eldar based and newly built Tau), so I can take som time to work on my collection of sisters. Orks, TSons and GKnights means a nice lead to whatever's next.

that'd be somethin. IMO alpha legion or iron warriors are far more interesting. Or night lords, if just for the maxed out "eeeeeeeviillee" and potential for a killer skeletor paintscheme.

Never said those other ones aren't interesting...but they also would potentially be good for supplement books rather than effectively 'standalone' books.

How do you figure that they're Primaris? Also TS & GK are some of the oldest books. They seem to be updating them at roughly the same order as last time.

I will wager he is the TS version of Lord Discordant, so, daemon engine / daemon support.

Primaris GK.

This was coming, but is still comedy gold.

On the plus side, Combat Patrol for the overly expensive 666th Chapter.

Pretty much, actually. Orks and Sisters are both coming out with a lot of plastic, so they follow it up with a couple books that are book cards and character only. Or is there some reason gw should wait to release these two books?

Yeah. Limited releases punctuating big releases makes a lot of sense from a manufacturing and distribution standpoint. Especially with all the big AoS releases as well this year.

Nope. Just weirdly proportioned art. Its almost anti-'heroic scale' with tiny hands and heads. And small backpacks for marines.
Going by the interior of the left pauldron on the central model, I'm not sure the artist has spent any time at all with GW models. The top of the pauldron would also have to fold inside the chest armor in a hilarious way.

----

Getting TS and DG done before the main chaos book makes some sense to me. It gets the snowflakes' rules locked down before addressing what's 'normal' for chaos marines that aren't 100% dedicated/enslaved to a specific god.

Even though the Hero dude doesn't look Primaris, the right knee of the guy on the right does have the Primaris flared knee.

So it may be as Voss says, and the artist is just all over the place.

Ah yes gw is at fault for corona and brexit causing delays to codexes.

Complaining is getting silly. Guess gw should stop all releases as only way to stop complains.

Oh and points are tiny part. Nobody buys book for just those.

Not sure how I feel about Thousand Sons getting another HQ, that's basically the only slot that book already has plenty of. I was really hoping for a psychic helbrute...

I am a bit disappointed that it seems like the only new model TS are getting will be an HQ. TS only has 3 Elite choices and 2 fast attack. At least we will be able to see the costs of units that will be in the codex and can plan accordingly. I was ready to drop $$$$ on models if they created some more elite or fast choices, but now I will probably just get the new model of Ebay (as it will probably be box locked at first). Hopefully the rules will be good.

We know there's a battle box coming for TS and GK. It's safe to say that the new model will be in there.

However, it's also possible that there is more coming.

I imagine it will come with a single new model for Grey Knights and a single new model for Thousand Sons, like Piety and Pain or Prophecy of the Wolf

The Infernal Master sounds to me like it might have something to do with Daemonic Summoning. Will be interesting to see if TS get a super doctrine and if there is a written rule in the codex that says summoned daemonic allies don't break it.

I agree that it will likely be the one new TS model in the TS vs GK box.

It does sound like there are too many HQs currently, but I expect either someone to move from the HQ slot to the elite slot, or to get a special rule that lets you take two/three HQs in the space of one slot, similar to various rules we have seen in 9th edition codexes.

I do wonder if they will add a DG style rule that limits you to one "lord" per detachment or one Daemon Prince. Perhaps in a battalion you'll be able to take 1 Ahriman/Exalted, 1 DP and 1~3 (in a single slot) Sorcerers/Termie Sorcs/Infernal Masters?

It could just as easily go into elites. We do need more support options.

Or they'll mirror DG and have "Master of the Thousand Sons" or whatever it's called, limiting the amount of HQs you can take.

In case you haven't heard, there is the virus that has raged unchecked across the planet for over a year now, reaping destruction of lives, economies and trade as it moves from area to area.

They clearly say that these books were supposed to have been out before now and they're telling these players that the points in the book is wrong, so that they do not have to buy the book if they do not want to. That's really dang nice of them to do in my book.
