OK, so my best friend decided that marines just weren't his thing anymore and didn't want to continue with his salamanders (he had his firstborn army stolen a long time ago and ever since then he just hasn't had the desire to play marines anymore and enjoys Orks, Necrons, AM and Ad Mech more) so he gave me his salamanders' army. It is largely unpainted, so I want to build a 2000 point list for a moderately casual environment and get it painted, but I really have no idea what to build. so I'm looking for help. here is what I have.

2 levithian dreadnoughts (ill buy whatever weapons i need, but there are 3 storm cannons, 2 siege claws, 1 grav flux bombard, 2 cyclonic siege meltas)
1 deredeo (literally every weapon option)
adrax agatone
bra'arth ashmantle
primaris captain
primaris chaplain
primaris psyker
indomitus box (bladeguard, outriders, eradicators, captain, lt, and assault intercessors)
30 intercessors (unassembled)
2 siege dreadnoughts
2 venerable dreadnoughts with twin lascannons
devestators with 4 mm
terminator assault squad with th
terminator squad with cyclone, assault cannon and heavy flamer as options
6 flamestorm aggressors
repulsor
2 landraider redeemers
chaplain in terminator armour
2 primaris lt
captain in gravis armor
20 infiltrators
10 hellblasters (retail kit, unassembled)
4 razorbacks (aftermarket weapon kits, literally any weapon loadout X 2)
15 tactical marines
vulkan hestan
2 redemptor dreadnoughts (ETB version)
suppressors
2 rhinos
2 droppods
captain in phobos armour
lt in phobos armor
and a gladiator kit unassembled.
a smash captain
2 thunderfire cannos wtih techmarines with servo harnesses

What I want to do is build a decent list, something that can play into roughly a decent area that plays moderately casually (think of a group that doesn't play the newest netlists, but doesn't take stuff that is just bad either) and prioritize getting it painted. I'm hoping that once I get the list painted, I can convince him to take his army back and keep it (i don't want his salamanders, I have BA and SW to play, and while i think salamanders are super cool, I'm hoping to get him re-energized with this project). but I don't have time to paint all of it, so I was thinking if I can just identify 2000 points I could do that.

The problem is, I have no idea what to run in a salamanders list. I know what I have seen competitive players run, but I'm not sure he would enjoy that much (he tends to play a bit more on the casual side) so I'm reaching out here and other places to see if I can get some help with building something.

Thank you in advance for any help you can give.

So, the 6 aggressors, 15 intercessors and 15 tacs, Agatone, a lieutenant, 2 rhinos or razorbacks and some eradicators are a good core focus to a 2000 pts, including as many melta weapons as possible in that list. After that I am ambivalent about the remaining choices. Hellblasters are good but not very salamandersish. Fielding a dread or two might look nice and may be inspiring.
