After what feels like a hundred years, I've been finally able to paint NEW Lizardmen sculpts! And what a beautiful sculpts they are. See how I paint one of them for my Eavy Contrast series here:
As always everything is done using Contrast Paints with extra Highlights. Also played with some water effects for that extra fun touch.
Those look gorgeous! Mad respect, but for a horde unit, that's not really a "Contrast Method". Each one of those models would take 30-60 minutes, which isn't fun multiplied by the numbers we are talking with skinks. I'm not an expert painter, but that is too long for me to just get my 40 guys done.
funy enough, I have painted A FULL ARMY to this level, including over 40 skinks.
Also this doesn't take 60 minutes per mini lol, not even close. This was around 8 hours with filming, so I guess this could be done in 5 hours. I usually painted 2 or 3 of this guys a day when painting the army.
You've missed the point of the video completely, this is not Battle Ready Contrast, there are a lot of people that do that, this is about getting the highest end results but you can just skip the highlights and BOOM there you have your "Contrast Method" paintjob, btw that BS marketing that GW made is the reason so much people hate Contrast Paints, calling it a "METHOD" was a bad idea, an even them have moved away from it in their latest videos.
Just to end this, I I show you how to a do a super basic paintjob, then the value of the video is just that, basic. If I show you how to do High level paintjob, then you can choose where to stop, you have the basic steps and the steps to take it to the next level.
I thought Contrast method was shortest ammount of time possible per mini to get table ready, IE three colors. For instance, a pox walker with the GW contrast method should take under 10 minutes, according to their presentation video.
Maybe I am completely wrong on what "Battle ready" means? Is it not 3 colors and a base?
As Juan says in his intros, 'Where I try to paint one model to the highest quality using contrast paint and highlights'. Do you hear anything in that suggests he is going to cut corners?
Using contrast paint to slam out a ton of low quality models is one way to use it. It is not the only way.

Don't explain yourself. Just keep creating.
I think you're a wonderful painter and it takes a tonne of work to create videos for others. If someone has comprehension difficulties then that is not on you to make it clear to them.
Just keep making vids bud.
Outside of GW's, there are only two painters I really follow, Duncan & Juan. The latter is a bit out of reach for my basic skills, but that's why I call it "inspiration".
I found your YouTube channel about a year or so ago, and used this method for my Dark Angels (from your tutorial, which I have bookmarked). Now, my stuff doesn't look as good as yours, but it was fun for me to try and made the painting less of a chore for me (for others, YMMV). I personally found that this method took me about the same amount of time it took as using spray from a can and building up highlights from there (sorry folks, no new fangled tech here - I'm a simple rattle can sort of guy).

Thanks mate, I really love your work BTW. You aƱong others were the inspiration that made me start making videos.

Exactly, cutting corners is OK but it's not for me.
