I have a wicked squad of SoS and their rhino at home and i'd like to field them alongside my space marines, i assume they have to be played within another imperium faction since they have no army of their own.

From my understanding, here is the only possible way to play them in a matched play game, please correct me if i am wrong (god i hope i am):

#1: Purchase two more squads of SoS to fill in the minimum requirement of their vanguard detachment with no HQ, its impossible to play just one squad and their rhino.
#2: Spend 3 command points to purchase their special vanguard detachment with no HQ slot.
#3: Lose the space marine combat doctrines for all my other detachments because they do not have the ''unaligned'' or ''agents of the imperium'' faction keyword.

Is this correct? is there any other possible way to field a unit of SoS in a matched play game that might require less sacrifices?

Take a Primaris Psyker as an HQ and run an Astra Telepathica detachment.

Yes that's stupid; but there you go...

You can freely field them with Adeptus Custodes in any Custodes detachments.

Haha that's actually not bad at all! However as my profile picture suggests, i play Black templars. So no psykers for me. Sorry i did not specify it previously i didn't think it was relevant.

The latest rules for the Sisters of Silence are found in Psychic Awakening: War of the Spider. As noted, the 'Talons of the Emperor' rule allows them to be fielded in an ADEPTUS CUSTODES Detachment without it losing it's Detachment abilities.

Since a small contingent of SoS will cause a Space Marine army to lose their Combat Doctrines I really find it hard to justify including them. The penalty is too high

Yeah, unfortunately they're really only viable as part of Custodes. The game is increasingly punishing to souping different factions together.
