Greetings All,
This was a topic I was interested in prior to COVID, but the Pandemic put a stop to the thought process. Now, the Pandemic is starting to clear up, and my mind again turns to starting a game club or a convention. This would mostly be for fun and not try to turn a profit, just self-fund.
I do have experience running a small business with 20+ people, working on Non-profit organization boards, writing business plans, Robert's Rules of Order, Networking Groups, and business/charity management. Therefore, I have an understanding of basic concepts for running a club organization of this type. I have even enjoyed it!
I also have a location that I can use for game nights/Con events, but not as a storage location. There is one small store that mostly caters to Card Games in my area, but does have a few board games, and some War Machine. The demographics in the area are actually rural, about 20K Population, with about 50% between the ages of 18-44 (median is 41, so aging), but with a $60K annual household income and Per Capita Retail Sales of $19K- $23K. 85% + have broadband access. There is a small college in the area as well. The market is small, so the organization will have to scale for that smaller market.
For those of you who are 'Officers" of a club/Con Organizers, can you point me to good resources for by-laws, business plans, codes of conduct, or just general advice in forming a small club/Con for RPG, Board, and Wargaming?
Thanks in advance!
