I'm about to build a few Mek Gunz using the tried and true Trukk + Mek Gun method to make 4, but am having a problem sourcing gretchin to accompany the models. Obviously I will get some from the Mek Gun kit, but will need another 18 for the other Mek Gunz. What does everyone else use? I could just use the standard gretching kit, but there would be many duplicates, plus the majority of the models are waving guns around and so would not be interacting with the Mek Gunz in any way, which would be my preferred style. I know that Spellcrow and Kromlech have some goblins, but they are expensive for what you get, I'd need a few, and require some converting work. Does anyone else have a good source? I've tried Mantic too - lots of converting needed...

forgeworld used to sell a set of all mechanic grots - like 30 of them - that I bought and use for all my mek gunz needs. Sadly i think because forgeworld hates fun theyre out of print now.

So, unless there was some way to get forgeworld's sculpts outside of logging on to forgeworld dot com and purchasing them, you'd be out of luck on those.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

From the regular gretchin kit from GW. They're not gunners, but the kit is very cheap and you'll get 100% GW models. I don't think there's a better/cheaper way to get the gunners.

And those models can be also used as regular gretchins if you want, as they're the official models.

Why would you need to convert the Grots form Spellcrow/Kromlech/Wargame Exclusive/ ArtelW? They're very close interpretations of the concept in my opinion. The cheapest might be GW. If you go the snakebites route you could also take some fantasy goblins of which there are pretty cheap ones available (Mantic, shieldwolf).

Thanks for all of the replies. Yes, my error in the original message. The Spellcorw Kromlech etc models wouldn't need converting, but their cost is slightly prohibitive for multiple models.

I may well just go with the standard gretchin and possibly convert a couple to make them fit the models a little better.

It's also not too hard to make tools like wrenches or "welding guns" with a bit of plasticard and/or other bits. If you know any Guard players they probably have some Space Binoculars or entrenching tools you could swipe.
