From the Core Rules:
Warhammer 40,000 is designed to be played with armies of a certain size. If the combined Power Rating of all the models you and your opponent want to use in a battle is less than 15 or greater than 300, then you may find that Kill Team or Apocalypse, respectively, better suits the scale of the game.

I'm a huge fan of small, weird games.
So! If the suggested minimum Total PL is 16, what kinda fun can folks come up with, assuming fairly equal PL, so aim for 8, but 7 or 9 will be ok. Use the Open Hostility Mission Pack.

For my two forces, using the models I have):

Tyranids 8PL
Since hornagsunts are egg laid, let's say a clutch was missed and pops up, 20, with Toxin Sacs and Adrenal Glands, along with a minimum sized unit of burrowed Rippers with Spinemaws.

Kroot 8pl
This being a Kroot world that's survived being brushed by a splinter of a fleet, they're still doing surveys to look for any missed Nids. There's a squad of 3 Knarlock Riders and 2 packs of 8 hounds that come across these newly hatched horrors.

No Battleforged means no Stratagems or CP, the Sept won't matter as Kroot can't benefit. Let's go with Hydra for the hivefleet. One Knarlock Rider is chosen as Warlord, and gets neither Trait nor relic. For fun, let's pick one Ripper Swarm model as Warlord, like their non character opponent, it gets neither relic nor trait

Run on a 44"x30" board with the Forest World Theatre of War rules from Saga of the Beast and accordingly dense area terrain, some fallen trees that could be used as natural barricades. As the armies are of equal PL, we run the Annihilation Mission.

Will post the results once I get a chance to run this.

213PL 60PL 12PL 9-17PL

Sounds kinda old school, I do like seein pg interesting little scenarios over the big games. Lots you can do with it.

Sadly I am not really in a position to game myself so couldn’t really do my own of similar :-)
