Just a little while ago, CMON delivered their Marvel United game filled with wonderful super hero chibi minis. I’ve started painting them using a sort of comic book style (a lot of black outlines and some really neat stuff). Some of the minis take to this a little more than others, and I plan to keep experimenting with the style and find new ways to push the comic book style further.

I’ll have a lot more to show off as I work my way through the whole set, but here is something to start with. Somehow, I chose mostly less saturated characters for this first group (which gives them a slightly more Darkest Dungeon vibe).

I'll keep updating this post as I add more.

They all look great but the Thing and Groot are my favourites.

Thanks.

This rock dude is actually Korg (the very polite gladiator rock guy from Thor Ragnorok) rather than the Thing. They are making Ben Grim and the rest of the Fantastic Four but it'll be another year before we get our hands on them.

I made another set of them- this time pushing the comic style further with some really dynamic coloring.

Just got the X-Men core box.

Storm is sculpted in her '90s costume (the one I always thought was black but that people who watched the cartoon think is white).

I'm thinking that I need to try and simulate Jim Lee lines all over her.

Marvel United board game and expansions. Some of them are Kickstarter exclusive, but there are plenty available at retail.

The retail releases seem to vary from country to country. I saw a bundle on Amazon for the core game, Spiderverse and Doctor Strange all together. There's also a new X-Men set (I've got it, but haven't painted them yet)

Ebay of course has all of the exclusive stuff- some of it all bundled together and some of it separated out.

I think most of the expansions are retail (in theory) and they just had like 1 model per expansion that was exclusive. I actually missed the first KS but went hard on 2nd to get everything.

And Magneto!

I've started pulling up Jim Lee art as reference, and I think it worked well here (the helmet was especially tricky).

I painted Storm in her Jim Lee costume (back when no one could decide if she was wearing black, white or silver- they even released three different action figures in the different colors).
