Any way of running a chaos guard list? Specifically it having the keyword chaos ?

I know there are renegades and heretics but what about a chaos guard?

Renegades & Heretics and Servants of the Abyss are the only "Traitor Guard-like" factions I can think of, and both are extremely limited.

I'd just run Guard models as Cultists with Autoguns to be honest.

If you want an actual Chaos Guard army, you can either:
- Use the outdated Renegades and Heretics list.
- Use Guardsmen models in place of Cultists in a CSM list.

However, you can always run a Chaos-themed Guard army using the IG codex. Just be sure to make it clear to your opponent what each unit is.

Renegades & Heretics doesn't even exist anymore.

R&H were awful in 8th and weren't even worth playing in an game where winning didn't matter. They were put into Legends at the start of 9th Edition. The Servants of the Abyss list doesn't work at anything more than about 500pts since it uses units that were ported over from a dungeon crawler game.
Your only real option is to use the AM Codex if you want any chance of an enjoyable game.

I know this exists, the problem though is it's all legends. So you can only use it in narrative, friendly games, or matched play with opponents permission.

The units in their are also overcosted, have no detachment abilities, no stratagems, etc.

So in other words, they exist?

They exist with no model range and an unsupported ruleset. Hardly counts.

They require no more "opponent's permission" than any other army. They're just "not recommended" for competitive play.

Agreed. They are legal for any kind of play.

Again, it's a terrible army that has absolutely nothing going for it. All of the good things R&H had in 7th are gone and everything is just worse than its counterpart in the AM Codex. Its existence doesn't really matter when it is utterly worthless.

I don't disagree, but it's still factually incorrect to say that they do not exist or require opponent's permission.

In any case, the OP's question was whether there are any other ways to get Chaos Astra Militarum, to which the answer is "not really, no".

Yep. The answer is Renegades & Heretics via Legends or home-brew rules.
