How would it affect the Heresy?

Preparing the Invasion of Terra

It isn't as simple as switching one Legion for another. You'd have to change everything about the Primarchs views/experiences/life to see a change.

If Curze hadn't ended up on Nostramo and become the Night Haunter then his life would be drastically different. Would his foresight have been manageable if he grew up in a nurturing and healthy environment like Guilliman? If he hadn't landed on Nostramo would he even become the Night Haunter or was his insanity always a present curse?
Would the Night Lords have become filled with criminals sent from Curze's homeworld?

Corax was raised as a slave on Lycaeus, later Deliverance after he liberated it, so his entire life was dedicated to the ideals of freedom that the Emperor promised. He even exiled or caused the deaths of many Terran Astartes because they used the very same tactics that had oppressed and killed the people of Deliverance. Before Corax, the XIX (Raven Guard) were basically the Night Lords.

Each Primarch was instrumental in changing the culture and tactics of their Legions to be what we know them to be now.

I should have been more specific, what if, for some reason, Konrad, while still landed on Nostramo and experienced the gakky life he got, remained loyal to the Emperor during the Heresy. While a certain turn of events during the first meeting between Corvus and big E caused the former to grow more and more suspicious and furious towards the latter, basically imagining something like the first encounter between Emperor and Angron. Now, assuming Corvus turned traitor and Konrad decided to remain loyal (if there really should be a reason for this, then let us assume big E got Sanguinius instead of Fulgrim to tend to Konrad when he was first introduced to the “family”, and Sang did an excellent job at improving Curze’s mental condition by being somewhat relatable regarding the topic of pre-cog) how would this affect events like the battle of Istvaan?

Yes, in Pharos Sanguinius and Kurze have a long turgid dialogue where Sanguinius claims he can rehabilitate Kurze from essentially mental disability and make him spiritually whole. This is well after the start of the war.

Kurze makes his contention that the Emperor designed him to be the way he is, and all the bad things he did were the Emperor’s intention. That’s always been his story, since the Index Astartes days before the Heresy series.

Meanwhile the recent Raven Guard supplement gives them a unit that fights slavery even in the 41st millennium. We know from Angron and Nuceria that the Emperor could have easily shown up before the victory of coral and done a deal with the slave masters on Kiavahr.

codex supplement raven guard wrote: The 6th Company holds the honour of upholding the Primarch’s lifelong battle against tyranny, deploying to thwart the ambitions of despots, demagogues and false prophets who would shackle Mankind with chains of servitude.

The official situation of these corax is a lot like a good person being born under an evil regime and joining the security forces of that regime. meanwhile even the same evil regime occasionally prosecutes it’s henchmen for war crimes, in order to disassociate itself from things it orchestrated, the way Kurze claims to have been scapegoated.

Almost nothing has to change for your scenario OP. A coin flip would explain it

Konrad has pre-cog - which could really screw up the entire Horus trap if he manages to guess it before they land and warns Ferrus. So, I guess Horus would just remove him from that battle somehow or tried to assassinate him (good luck with that). Night Lords were also bigger legion than RG and almost a match for Dark Angels, so loyalist side would be stronger (assuming loyal Konrad is as competent as his traitor counterpart is ruthless).

On the other hand, Alpha Legion and Raven Guard working in tandem would just blow all the silly fortifications Dorn build into rubble, seeing Alpharius come really close to winning battle for Terra on his own despite Omegon sabotage, sooo...
