So I have gotten back into my Harliquins after purchasing a large lot. Having played a few games with them I find they are quite formidable still but I haven't faced the new scary. Anyone have any experience yet vs them? I think we have the tools to do the job but I am worried we will run out of "steam" going up against their chicken walkers and infantry.

cult mechanicus are indeed a quite powerful counter to harlequins - competitively, theyre sitting at just under a 50% winrate, so not that bad, but no longer the top tier army they were.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

Interesting, I would think that our ability to stick all our troupes in transports to protect from the dreaded "auto wound on a 4+ to hit" blob would be useful and all we would have to really worry about was their vehicles and such. I will have to keep my eyes open for a bat rep or something showing quins vs admech at this point.

Well, I decided to only play new codices (developed according to the new edition).
For me it's just Necrons as I find Marines boring as always.

So I played 2 games today, 1 vs white scars and 1 vs tau.

White scars game I won easily, end of t3 there wasn't much the white scar player could do as I had him all but tabled.

The tau game on the other hand came right down to the end. Those riptides with gattling cannons are just so nasty, they were tearing my vehicles appart with velocity trackers and sheer volume of shots. Going into t5 all he had left was a coldstar commander, 1 Drone, and a Pathfinder, but I had lost 75% of my army as well and wasn't in much of a position to chase him down to finish him off.

So are tau just currently a really good counter to harliquins? Seems like burst cannons are definitely a serious threat to us.

Tau are good at killing... not as good at scoring.

Not enough data on Orks yet I don't think. Harlequins are still OP and I wouldn't play a competitive Harlequin list using Tau, what's the point of playing punching bag? I suppose the Riptides do have a janky advantage against haywire because they are "monsters".

Yeah, I have had a lot of success since picking them back up in my local meta. It seems no army is safe from them!

Hordes die to mass shuriken cannon / haywire if needed. Plus base harlies can mulch with a troupe master hanging out.
Tanks die to haywire / fusion pistols easily.
Chrs die to troupe master assassin shenanigans (yeah, vehicle moves, troupe master jumps out, charges, targets with twilight fang and does 2 mortals on top of anything from the fang, then jumps back into transport before anyone can react.... this seems really broken)

I haven't faced orks or admech with them yet, but the only faction that has caused me concern so far was dark eldar, they do what we do just as well as we do. Better depending on the list (be worried about Phantasm Grenade Launcher spam, that will drop our transports so quick it isn't funny). I am surprised I haven't seen harlies on more tables really.
