Stage 2: Da Big Race is a new rule for Orks and it reads:

"Each time a model in an Orks Vehicle or Orks Biker unit from your army makes a ranged attack, improve the AP characteristic of that attack by 1"

Under "rare rules" it says: If a Transport model is under the effects of a modifier to its ranged attacks (such as a modifier to its hit rolls, wound rolls, etc.) the same modifier applies each time an embarked model makes a ranged attack.

Under these rules, does it follow that units embarked in a transport also benefit from Da Big Race, assuming the transport is a vehicle?

No. Improving a characteristic is not a modifier to a roll.

No, because the modifier only applies each time an attack is made by an ORK VEHICLE or ORK BIKER unit. The embarked unit (probably) has neither of these keywords, so the attacks they make do not have this modifier applied.

And you've managed to omit a key word

That word is unit

Reread the rule again.

There are two beneficiaries of this rule:
1) models IN an Orks Vehicle
Or
2)Orks Biker units

Reread the rule again.

That is a way to parse it.

You can also parse it as models in an Orks Vehicle unit or Orks Biker unit.

I’d submit it to the FAQ email, since it could be either. Though notably, under your reading, stuff like Dakkajets don’t get the bonus.

Not exactly. It benefits:
  • Models in Ork Vehicle units
  • Models in Ork Biker units

  • It does not benefit models embarked in Ork Vehicle models.

The word "unit" also applies to the Orks Vehicle Unit - they can have multiple models of vehicles when you make your list with that unit. It's referring to the models in the VECHICLE unit or the ORK BIKER unit; it's not referring to models in the Ork Vehicles.

    I’ll concede.
