Our nephew is turning 7 years old in August, do you have any ideas on what to buy as a birthday gift for a 7 years old boy? My wife is suggesting an RC car, but I want to give him this mini drone because he has too many RC cars. Can anyone suggest to me, is I'm going too wrong to giving him the mini drone?

It's okay to give him the mini drones because you need to be practical with him to teach life's lessons.

Mini drone could be fun. Maybe a robot building kit?

Warhammer?
Or any other fun dungeon crawler game?
D&D do a boardgame that comes with some toys.
Even Airfix/Revel or similar with some research can be fun. Read research as watching Starwars of ploughing through historical textbooks to find the correct shade of green.
Bit of craft, numeracy, literacy and creativity always goes down well with the parents.

Lego is the king of toys because it can make any other toy.

If you're looking to push gaming/fantasy stuff there's a junior version of Talisman called Talisman Legendary Tales that's been popular with my kids (age 8 but 7 when we got it). Rather than dice it uses a mechanic where you pull chits from a bag (when you win the treasures become additional chits to draw out). This is a great mechanic for cheating which avoids a lot of tantrums.

Choosing a birthday gift for a 7-year-old boy can be a bit challenging, but both options you mentioned have their merits. The RC car is a classic choice and can provide hours of entertainment, especially if he enjoys racing and playing with cars. On the other hand, the mini drone is a unique and exciting gift that can introduce him to the world of technology and remote control devices.
