Is it possible to play a gunline style army the focuses around mostly dreadnoughts?

Can you go pure dreadnoughts, is that a thing? If not, what are some other good shooty units?

Thanks all!

only way to go pure dreadnoughts is a dreadnought HQ, so space wolves or blood angels (libby dreads are HQs yeah?)

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

There was a youtuber or two who put together a couple (3+) all 'dreads' lists. One was an Orc list pretending to be Ultramorons though.

While not quite "pure" a dreadnought force led by a techmarine will do a little better between repairs and the master of the ancients ability. An second TM for extra repairs or a librarian is probably a good idea too. You could do that with any chapter.

More 40k armies than 40k time ...

@OP:

It sounds like you want to build a shooty "robot" army. SM aren't appropriate for this. Better try the Imperial Knights.

For the fun of it I made a stupid 2050 list that is:
Primaris Techmarine
Techmarine

5 Intercessors
5 Intercessors
5 Tactical Marines
5 Tactical Marines

3 Redemptor Dreads
3 Venerable Dreads

3 Mortis Dreads
I doubt it would be very good, but it would be fun.

Vigo. Spain.

TBH pure ultramarine dreadnought lists are some of the most competitive marine lists out there.

Just 3 redemptors, 2 volkite whatever, 2-3 invictors, a couple characters, and minimun troops.

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

Perhaps they lack the dread keyword but in my heart at least they are dreadnoughts. I did some heavy conversion work on my Invictors though and they look like dreads from a distance. Removed the cage and put some armour there. Removed the "tactical" stuff sticking out like antennas and weird bars on the legs and feet etc. Used scout heavy bolters that I put under the fist like a normal dread and threw away the stupid pistol HB. Also removed the shields on the weapons.

They look more like a redemptor from a distance than what ever stupid thing the war suit were from the beginning.

Salamanders and Red Scorpions have character dreads as well (Ashmantle and Carab Culln, respectively).
Red Scorpions don't have a known progenitor chapter so they can be successors of any chapter you want. A dread list can be made for any chapter if you go Red Scorpions.

Are these 2 separate 2000 point lists? Or is it 2k points for all 13 dreads?

Looks like 1 2k list split into two detachments.

Correct, a single ~2000-point list. 2 Vanguard detachments (one Space Wolf, one Blood Angels). 1 CP out for Deredeo and 3 for each detachment, so you would start with only 5 CP.
