A serious thread asking what people think we’ll see from the new space marine models that would inevitably come out at 9.5 / 10th edition.

I’m suspecting it will end up being the continued trend of adding Primaris duplicates of firstborn models. Eg, jump packs, veterans and devestators, as well as an actual Primaris flier. As someone making a Primaris only army, they would be welcome (aesthetic purposes).

A multi-part Suppressors kit (with options).

A multi-part, multi-option Captain / Lieutenant kit would be amazing, but that's not going to happen...

You can assume the new model that old Snikrot (I think it's him) is sneaking behind will be around.

As for Devs, I doubt it. We have Hellblasters and the melta party. I don't see them giving Primaris a customizable heavy weapon unit.

Not to mention the Heavy Intercessors as a Heavy Bolter Devastator analogue.

Kinda leaves Grav weapons and Missile Launchers out in the cold at present - choosing the right warhead to load in the latter might be too much for the Primaris, though.

Missing reboots. Jump pack melee is conspicuous in it's absence. Devs either an expansion of Helblaster options or a new unit.

Then we begin the chapter specific kits while recutting/expanding options in the existing line Ie. The addition of Grav to the oldmarine line.

In all seriousness, the next Space Marine models are likely going to be some updated Black Templar sculpts. I'd expect a new Helbrecht and Emperors Champion at the very least.

Primaris Terminators. they're absent and IMHO there's demand, sure we have the various gravis options but that's differant and there'd be some real demand for actual terminators

Space Marines haven't beeded anything new since about 4th edition.

There's that Heresy leaked stuff, so I imagine there'd be more released along with that. Unfortunately the mk 6 models look really boring.

Hopefully nothing for a few years, tbh.

But when they do get new things, I'm sure they'll start to get things that people have been asking for, like the Gravis Terminator equivalent for melee (thunder hammer Gravis squad), and more replacements for older kits, like an anti-air platform.

There are rumors that some of the old vehicles are being redone (Rhinos, Vindicators, etc) but we'll see.

If the rumoured BT release is accurate, we may see at least a partial shift towards chapter-specific Primaris units over the coming years.

we've already seen reivers boxed up as hounds of mokai so GW seems to finally be dipping towards chapter specific stuff.

it's possiable the BT rumor is just something like the primaris Death company of the hounds and is just a "Reskin" of an existing kit?

Indeed, Chapter specific Primaris units and maybe a few more Primaris options here and there like different gun options on Hellblasters or a revamp of artillery tanks given the same treatment than the Predators one. Maybe even a couple fortifications or piece of terrain if GW is truly desperate. Space Marines, at the moment, are more than fine model wise. In fact, with both Primaris and Old school Marines options, they probably have too much to the point it gets tedious to build army lists and plow through a codex with that many options and supplements.

Chaos Space Marines, while not as bad as they used to before the launch of 8th edition, do need a dusting with some new units still only available in "Start Collecting" boxes, antique Berserkers and bikers, virtually no Noise Marines, no Chosen, antiquated special character like Huron and Lucius, lack of cultists and design space for some new units like smaller daemon engines, a couple more "elite" cultist units and siege and artillery pieces.

First, it would be nice to see a Tome Keepers upgrade sprue, with lots and lots of open books.

Second...LEAVE THE TERMINATORS ALONE. Seriously, they are too iconic and badass to muck around with.

At some point T5 3W marines will seem too weak to the fanbase and GW will launch a new line of models. T6 5W 2+ 4++ base. SM players will be happy to re-buy their entire army, once again .

The BT rumours state that the incoming Sword Brethren are a full dedicated kit, and there is a vehicle upgrade sprue and a Crusade squad (no idea if the last one is an upgrade or not - probably would be). If accurate, which they very likely are, then it's a significant change.

I'd honestly be happy with exactly the same armour pattern/aesthetic and just upsized.

They have made primarch sized Terminator armour, upscaling and customising the old kit to primaris size is doable form a fluff perspective.

I'm sorry but what suit is too iconic?

is it this one?

This one?

or of course..

seriously we've got 3 marks of terminator armor already, not including stuff like grey knight armor and the chaos stuff.. I can't imagine one more is going to suddenly be too much.

Making primaris characters is easy money. Each one gets to be a huge lore event to post 6 Warcom articles about, and since half the current models for SM characters are finecast there's no real way to say it isn't necessary.

Look at poor Azrael, for instance:

That Azreal looks way much better than any primaris/gravis dude IMHO.

When they finally get around to resculpting Dante, I expect him to cross the Rubicon Primaris and bring some jump pack melee primaris with him...

One thing I’m surprised GW hasn’t done is give Primaris marines access to refractor fields. It’s a very easy way to give them invuls.

I'd expect Dante to get shoved into a dreadnought.

Shrike didn't get jump pack melee Primaris, which is partly why the existence of his model is so stupid. There was some chatter of him not being a melee powerhouse but rather outfitted with a sniper rifle and jump pack...which would have been way better, conceptwise, for a Primaris army.

Y'know what? Your're right. Too many chefs have pissed in that soup already...

But seriously, Brian, Space Hulk. Nuff said. We shouldn't have to be having this conversation...

And if you even think about mentioning the revisions they've made since the first edition I will brain you, Brian!
