I've recently bought my first 3d printer (the igiloo mars I believe it's called?) and I am cleaning it for the first. The resin vat has this oily feel to it and I can't quite get the plate crystal clear. I've repeatedly rinsed it in waves of alcohol and soapy water, but it's still just a tad grimy. I've tried YouTube and google, but there's very little on just standard maintenance. Any tips you can give me?

Some good strong IPA alcohol will clean it up as best as it can be. If your FEP film is still cloudy or scratched, then time to replace. If you LED screen is cloudy, that is different, as there is tempered glass on top of the screen and it should be 'clean as glass' so to speak. I use a lint-free wipe cloth made for eyeglasses that works great to give the final polish and wipe.

If you have some dried/cured resin on your screen, you might have some success with a drop of IPA and cleaning with a flat blade, careful not to dump any alcohol into the machine or carelessly scratch the glass. I have had to do this a couple of times.

Something I haven't seen many people talk about is. Using some fep as a screen protector. I use some scotch tape and cover my whole bottom plate. If my tank ever ruptures then I have a secondary layer keeping my screen safe. As far as I can tell it doesn't affect print quality. It was something I picked up in the early days of the mono screens because replacements were not available. Cheap insurance.
