Hey guys,

So i just got into the hobby of Wargaming, i'm thinking of getting the new Adepta Sororitas Combat Patrol box
I heard the faction is very strong in the 9th edition, and i kinda like the holy order theme.
can someone give me a gist on how they play?

In my town i will be playing mainly against CSM players, i want something that wont get me crushed every game.

Thanks!

Sisters of Battle have an overarching theme of 'faith in miracles' and a lot of their gameplay revolves around creating 'big moments' that turn the tide of the game. They have a few unique mechanics that facilitate this.

Miracle dice are special dice that you get to roll when you fulfil various requirements and set aside at whatever value you rolled. Say you've got a 6, a 1, and a 4 set aside. You can then at various points in the game, substitute whatever die you were about to roll, and just say that the result is going to use one of your miracle dice. You're going to roll to deal damage to an enemy vehicle? Nope, you just automatically roll a 6 using that miracle die. You've got a unit that's about to roll for its 4+ save? Nope, you've got a 4 set aside, so that save automatically succeeds.

Additionally, most sisters units have a 6+ invulnerable save, which means no matter how powerful of a weapon is being thrown at you, you always get to roll a die to save against it and a 6 always succeeds. So both offensively and defensively, the army is created to generate these sometimes unlikely, epic moments of miraculous protection or destruction.

The main question you want to ask when building a sisters army is whether you'll be using a lot of vehicles or not. Primarily competitive builds tend to not include many, limiting themselves to only the Penitent Engines and the Paragon Warsuits with Morvenn Vahl and otherwise taking mostly infantry. But you can include a mounted sisters list that uses Rhino transports to protect more fragile units that can deal a lot of damage like the sisters repentia or Dominions. For only 9 points with a 3+ armor save, your basic sister of battle is pretty dang tough on her own, and many people find numbers alone to be the best defense around.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

Hey scotsman, thanks for the explanation!
how do you think the CP will perform against this CSM build :
- 1 lord discordant on helstalker
- 1 Havocs
- 1 CSM squad
- 1 psyker i forgot the name

last time i was playing with the Combat Patrol Mechanicus i borrowed, and i was destroyed on turn 1

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

Yo.

Time you enjoy wasting isn't time wasted.

Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery,
But today is a gift. That's why it's called present.
