Hey everyone,

first timer here getting into the Warhammer 40k world. My son and I have always loved everything about 40k so in January we decided to pick up an Indomitus box set from a local game store. Well come now its August and we have everything painted, including some extras we've picked up along the way. I've spent a ton of time reading through the core rule book just trying to get a grasp on this game and I feel like for the most part I understand how the game plays out. There are just some things I still can't wrap my head around and I am trying to make sure I get it correct before we sit down to play our first game. Like I said, I have the indomituis box set and a few extras. Ive been sitting here trying to put together my Ultramarine army list using the printouts I got off the community page.

One question I have right now that i cant seem to figure out is when choosing a unit, lets say Im looking at my Primaris Captain. Under weapons it lists about 6 different weapons. How do I choose what to use? Can he use any weapons I want to during the game? I see he is at 90 points plus whatever weapon I use adds extra points, whats throwing me off is in his data sheet it lists 6 weapons.

I dont have that particualr codex, but generaly on his data sheet it should say

XXX is equipped with XXX

Then it would say he can take addional XXX or change XX for XX

So basicaly you pay the pts for the model with the gear you want and add him to the roster/ army list. It should limit/explain what he takes in his data sheet.

Looking at battle scribe he come with Krak/frag grenades and either master crafted Auto Bolt Rifle or master crafted stalker bolt rifle as basic loadout at 90pts.

Then you can change his rifle for either plasma pistol and power fist(10pts) or master crafted power sword and heavy bolt pistol +relic shield (15)

Or you can just pay the 5pts for Master crafted powers sword on top of his rifle

Whatever the case, once you pick and pay for his weapons thats what he starts the game with and you can use the stuff he has. For example he could either fire a gun/pistol or throw a grenade but not both ion same phase.

What do you use to make your army list?
Any apps or you doing it by Pen and Paper (the old school way)
