Like the title says, I’m looking for a paint from any manufacturer that is a match for the old Citadel Catachan Green paint. Can anybody help me out?

An old equivalent chart published by Vallejo suggests VGC Cayman Green and VMC Bronze Green. How close of an equivalent to Catachan Green they are I can not say.

Oh Canada!

Paint range compatibility chart isn't worth dross when it comes to exact matches. I do have mid-2000's Catachan Green but nothing else in my selection is an exact match. Closest I have is P3's Cryx Bane Base and it's considerably darker, though in the same hue.

Your best bet is to take your remaining pot (if any) or a sample to the local hobby shop and compare colours there. Luckily Catachan Green is an olive shade, which is pretty easy to adjust since it's nowhere close to a pure hue. I suspect you'll be able to find an exact or nearly exact match in the Vallejo rainge, as they specialize in military colours.

From the current Citadel range, Castellan Green is fairly close to the old Catachan Green. Not sure about exact match though, as it's been a minute since I've used Catachan Green (we're talking way back when I first started painting LotR models 13+ years ago).

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

Thanks for the responses. Yeah, the paint compatability chart is by no means exact, and my experience with Castellan Green is that it isn’t an exact match. Will give Vallejo a go!

I’ve just remembered that Coat d’arms Have a lot of the old Citadel equivalents, I’ll check them out too.

Just a side note, the Coat D'Arms are the original Citadel paints, they were allowed to keep the name when Citadel decided to get another factory (either France at that point or Ral Partha in the UK) to produce their colours.

If you have the original style pots, it's a very safe bet that the colour will be exactly the same.

In the meantime, we're just waiting on something special before we start doing all the matches to a near 99% accuracy again with the Alpha range

No, Catachan Green wasn't introduced until the end of the 'crystal pot' era (MkIV made in France black flip tops - 2003/4-2007). It did not exist in the 90's and thus is not a colour you'd find in the Coat D'arms range other than by happy accident.

And INSTAR's colour matching is worse than Dakka's conversion charts, don't even bother. Also the worst quality paint I've ever had the misfortune of spending money on.
