Hi Guys,

Astelan from this forum had a blog on his DKoK and his scheme is exactly what I want. I've PM'd them, but they have been inactive for years so I don't see much hope of a reply.

However, I'm having some trouble recreating it/working out the colours he used.

Pic is below, what would you suggest as the main colours he uses for the trench coat? I'm unsure if I'm seeing a green khaki or more sand, or a combination of both.

Citadel colours ideally, but happy to source other brands if you think it is something very specific.

Thanks in advance!

According to the person he borrowed the scheme off it is devlan mud, badab black and gryphonne sepia all over a white primer.

Cool! So you could also do it with either Contrast paints or with oil washes? Just find pleasing shades of antracite (not-black), brown and sepia?

I've just popped some agrax earthshade over a test model (as a means of exchange for the devlan mud - I'm going to get army painter dark tone for that) and it isn't quite right in terms of saturation, however, I suspect it will need multiple coats.

There also seems to be some brush texture to my eye on the great coats, and it does seem like it was painted back up with a colour which I may have to experiment with.

I'm going to go for another coat of agrax, and a third if needed before I fiddle with it too much. Thanks for the advice though, it's along the right path at least.

I think he said that he used 2-3 layers, will have a dig around tomorrow and see if I can find the original thread again (planning on using the scheme for some 3d printed Weequay personally) and will post a link if I do.

Ishkur is the original creater of that paint scheme so you might have better luck finding a guide with his name attached. I remember from years ago he had a painting blog up on chaos-dwarfs.com I think it might have been.

I imagine the thread is probably still there but any images are long dead.

I think I've cracked it with your help guys, however in the flesh it isn't quite what I want, it's a bit too desaturated a paint scheme for my liking, I think I just need to get a few more shades of base colours on it first before I start the wash process.

Thanks for your help though guys, it was enough information to find what I as looking for.
