Help!!!
I've masked 36 black templar models' should pads with masking fluid and now I can't get it off!
Each pad has a 3D transfer (resin maltese cross) glued on. The masking fluid seems to have gone under it a bit.
But even on the flat sections, it isn't coming off. When I do get some off, it's pulling up the primer and base coat underneath.
I've tried gently brushing it off with a stiff brush, I've tried lifting it with toothpicks and pulling it off with thin tweezers.
What else should I try before ripping all the shoulder pads off!?
Thanks in advance.

Could try blu tak. I'm not a fan of masking fluid myself. I always found it more hassle than it was worth.

As Queen_annes_revenge said, something like Blutack should do the trick.
Just pop it on and of in quick succession, should gently prise any leftovers out.
Failing that, one of those airbrush, pointy needle knife type things, used carefully could prise it out and then just lift it off with tweezers or a damp fingertip

Masking fluids are a pain. I've started experimenting with masking putty because the fluids always left a mess, which I never could clean completely.

I thought you were supposed to use the eraser on the end of a pencil but that might be a blunt instrument for what you need
Which brands masking fluid was it?

Thanks, Supershandy and queen_annes_revenge, I've tried the blutac. It works great on the eyes and the tanks. But not the shoulder pads.
Tauist, I feel you. This felt like a good idea at the time but I'm feeling pretty miserable about all of this now. I've ordered some putty too. We'll see how that works.
mrFickle, that's a great idea. I'll have to give it a go. I'll try later with a clay sculpting tool. That might work too.
It's Vallejo's masking fluid. I've also just ordered some Green Stuff World masking fluid, so I'll see if that's any better.
Thanks all.

I own the green stuff world version of this and not had issues removing it but I did notice it took some of the shine off the colourshift paint it was protecting

This seems to be a common issue for the Vallejo masking fluid.
I've only ever used Humbrol's Maskol, used it for a few decades now, and never had any issues with it.
All of my friends who have used Vallejo have experienced the same issues with removal, though.

I've only ever used Maskol brand masking fluid, which worked fine. I make sure that the previous paint layer is dry and solid and that I put the masking fluid on thick. It is supposed to turn into a rubbery mass, that always came off no problem as soon as I grabbed it with tweezers.
